Breaking Amish stars Rebecca and Abe Schmucker are asking for prayers after they revealed on Friday that Abe’s sister Ella was hospitalized with a mystery illness almost three weeks after giving birth. On the current season of Return to Amish we’ve seen Chapel Peace and her soon-to-be husband Andrew Schmucker wrestling with the devastating news that her cancer has returned. Chapel has revealed how difficult the chemo treatment process was the first time she was diagnosed with the disease, and last night it was announced on her and Andrew’s Facebook fan page that she wants to try an alternative treatment called The Gerson Therapy. The alternative treatment is not covered by insurance and the page provides a link to a fundraising campaign at GoFundMe.com to help raise $1,500 so she and Andrew can make the trip and begin her treatment.
UPDATE – The campaign has been so successful, Chapel has upped the goal to $5,000! Watch two videos of Chapel, in which she is obviously weakened by her current treatment, and read her appreciative comments to her supporters.
Original Breaking Amish cast member Sabrina High is actually a former Mennonite, but judging from her recent announcement on Facebook, she is now a practicing Womennonite as she reveals she has broken things off with boyfriend (and father of her daughter Oakley) Harry Kreiser III and she is currently “casually seeing various beautiful women!”

Mystery solved! Diligent Breaking Amishologists have been trying to track down the identity of Betsy’s husband ever since the first preview trailer was released in which Betsy revealed she was married and wasn’t going to let her husband keep her from going to Los Angeles. Not only do we now know his name (Allen Yoder) but we also have wedding photos of Betsy (Elizabeth) and her very non-Amish hubby in which Betsy looks downright stunning! (Much better than she did after her on-screen makeover!)
Breaking Amish L.A.’s Betsy freaked out her castmates when she started doing stuff with candles. Unlike the first Breaking Amish, which had unfounded accusations of witchcraft, Betsy openly admits that she’s been practicing witchcraft for years, and that she’s even had sex with Satan.
Last week fans of Breaking Amish LA got a sneak peek at the guys’ “English” makeovers, but we all had to wait until Sunday night’s episode to see Iva, Betsy and Lizzie go through their transformations, which began with hair and makeup and ended up at a clothing store where the ladies had a blast trying on numerous fun — and completely non-Amish — outfits. On Breaking Amish: Log Angeles, Devon shows that his mother puts obituary clippings in a photo album instead of photos, and it’s been noted on the original Breaking Amish that just the act of being recorded for television goes against Amish beliefs. Lizzie, one of the cast members on TLC’s Breaking Amish spinoff Breaking Amish: LA, says she never felt like she fit in with her Amish friends and family, and got her first taste of English life while working at markets in Philadelphia and Maryland when she was a young teen. The 21-year-old met her boyfriend, which her family doesn’t know about while working at a market in Maryland, and now she has an even bigger secret that she’s hiding from her family: she’s pregnant!

One of the three women taking the journey is leaving behind one particularly upset family member — her husband!
Breaking Amish‘s Mary Schmucker was shunned when she decided to appear on television with her son Abe during the first season of Breaking Amish, and although she didn’t leave the Amish community, she risked being shunned again when she followed Abe and his wife Rebecca to film Season Two in Sarasota, FL. She brought along her daughter Katie Ann, who though about leaving the Amish for a while, even getting an English makeover, but ultimately decided to return to the Amish. Mary reveals on the reunion special that she has been shunned again for choosing to move away for a while and participate in the show.

It seems aspiring super model Kate Stoltzfus isn’t the only Breaking Amish cast member working towards establishing a career outside of reality television. The cast’s resident eligible bachelor Jeremiah Raber is testing the waters of “English” entrepreneurialism by making personal appearances and signing “Jeremiah says do your freakin’ homework!” t-shirts. Plus, he recently announced plans to open an “Amish baked goods retail store.”
One of the best parts of Breaking Amish (reunion special part 1 airs tonight at 10 EST) is when they start speaking to each other in their own special language. It doesn’t leave out the audience because there are always subtitles, but it’s pretty interesting to hear this different language people speak in pockets of the US. Sometimes the words seem familiar to English words, and that’s because they are both Germanic languages So, what is this language?
