In the Season 5 Premiere of The Real Housewives of New York City, new cast member Aviva Drescher went with Sonja Morgan for a pedicure, where she revealed that she not only has an artificial leg (stemming from a traumatic childhood accident in a barn), but she has two of them – one for high heels and one for flats! And she has to bring them both along any time she gets a pedicure so that all fifteen of her toes match! (Makes perfect sense – I just never thought bout it before.) For my money, the very best morning news host, Robin Roberts, of Good Morning America has revealed that she’s been diagnosed with MDS or myelodysplastic syndrome. This is a medical problem that came about from her breast cancer treatment she received approximately 5 years ago. The candid Roberts posted a statement explaining what has happened to her and why she fully intends on beating MDS, a disease of the blood and bone marrow that was once called pre-leukemia. Veteran comedian and actor Martin Short appeared on the Today Show for a little sit down interview with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. What ensued was one of the most uncomfortable moments in recent live TV history. Short was on to promote the well reviewed new film Madagascar 3 when Kathie Lee asked Short, “And you and Nancy have one of the greatest marriages of anybody in show business. How many years now for you guys?” What Gifford was not aware of was that Short’s lovely wife, Nancy Dolman, died in August 2010 from ovarian cancer. VH1’s original Mob Wives reality series was a huge hit, and I think at least some of that credit should go to the show’s marketing peeps who did a wonderful job of creating stylized visuals paired with one of the best (and fittingly badass) theme songs in reality show history. Now it appears that the same crew has taken on the task of handling the Windy City expansion Mob Wives Chicago, with similar results! In addition to great “police surveillance” style videography in the super trailer and the tough musical gem “Playing for Keeps” by Elle King, now we have the official cast photos of all the ladies – and they are wonderfully hyper-real and overly dramatic 🙂
While I was expecting an intense season finale last night for Season 4 of 16 & Pregnant I still wasn’t quite prepared for the emotional ride I was taken on while viewing the pregnancy story of Kristina Robinson. MTV has posted a follow up 3 part video interview with Kristina as she discusses her life now and how she managed to get through such a heart-wrenching time. Among the topics covered is her therapy, her falling out with Todd’s family and her relationship with TJ Head.

It’s hard to believe the 4th Season of 16 & Pregnant is coming to an end tonight (not counting reunion shows of course). It’s been another roller coaster ride of emotional highs and lows for viewers and by all accounts MTV has saved the most heartbreaking story for last. Tonight will feature Texas mom Kristina Robinson and during the taping of her episode the father of her son Lukas Todd and her fiance at the time, John Todd Hight Jr., passed away tragically in a drowning incident.
