Prostate Cancer Foundation returns guilt-ridden Reddit donations after leaked photo postings

Reddit, which is the website most responsible for the dissemination of the leaked explicit celebrity photos over the last couple days, started a fundraising campaign for the Prostate Cancer Foundation in honor of Jennifer Lawrence yesterday. The campaign had raised thousands of dollars prior to the PCf finding out about its origins, at which point they deleted the campaign, returned all of the donated money and issued a statement that said, in part, “We would never condone raising funds for cancer research in this manner.”

Where did those leaked nude celebrity photos come from? And what is the “deep web?”

The entertainment world is still in shock after hundreds of stolen personal photos of mostly female celebrities were leaked online over the weekend, a huge majority of which feature the celebrities nude or in otherwise intimate settings. Although the authenticity of some of the photos has been called into question, the majority of them are believed to be real. So how did this happen? Where did the photos come from, and how did someone steal them?
