Is Teen Mom one of the most important shows in television history?

Tonight is the beginning of the end of MTV’s “ground-breaking docu-series” Teen Mom as the fourth and final season of the show premieres with back-to-back episodes featuring Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell, Amber Portwood, and Farrah Abraham, who invited the world into their lives when they first appeared on 16 and Pregnant in 2009. Join me as I take a look back on almost three years of writing about these young women and see if you don’t agree with me that Teen Mom will go down in history as one of the most important shows in television history.

Tonight is the beginning of the end for the first mommies of Teen Mom. Catelynn, Maci, and Farrah have been out in full force hitting the promotional circuit as they and the network look to send the series out with a ratings boom. In the latest promo video provided by MTV we see Farrah Abraham and Sophia visiting the grave of the late Derek Underwood, Sophia’s father, on his 21st birthday. No punches are being pulled here as we get an example of what should prove to be an extremely emotional 4th and final season as Teen Mom looks to sum up the incredible changes these young mothers have been through since their 16 & Pregnant episodes.

In the Season 5 Premiere of The Real Housewives of New York City, new cast member Aviva Drescher went with Sonja Morgan for a pedicure, where she revealed that she not only has an artificial leg (stemming from a traumatic childhood accident in a barn), but she has two of them – one for high heels and one for flats! And she has to bring them both along any time she gets a pedicure so that all fifteen of her toes match! (Makes perfect sense – I just never thought bout it before.) Stephanie Link of The Glass House resolve strengthened after tragic loss of husband

If the courts let it happen, ABC’s re-visioned version of Big Brother, The Glass House, is set to premiere in a week. They have released some cast information on the contestants vying for $250,000, first name only, and one of the competitors is Stephanie, a scientist from Boston. The Bean-Town lady’s full name is Stephanie Link and a friend’s heart-felt blog reveals how Stephanie tragically lost her husband overseas and how that experience has strengthened her resolve.

In spite of CBS trying to show Big Brother shade it looks like ABC is moving ahead with its own voyeur reality show, The Glass House. They have announced the cast, first names only, and one of the contestants is Ashley hailing from New Orleans, LA. It turns out that her full name is Ashley Forrestier and she currently lives in Houston after being displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Before becoming a hopeful reality star Ashley was the self described “Creole Queen,” doing her best to make waves in the music bus. For my money, the very best morning news host, Robin Roberts, of Good Morning America has revealed that she’s been diagnosed with MDS or myelodysplastic syndrome. This is a medical problem that came about from her breast cancer treatment she received approximately 5 years ago. The candid Roberts posted a statement explaining what has happened to her and why she fully intends on beating MDS, a disease of the blood and bone marrow that was once called pre-leukemia. VH1’s original Mob Wives reality series was a huge hit, and I think at least some of that credit should go to the show’s marketing peeps who did a wonderful job of creating stylized visuals paired with one of the best (and fittingly badass) theme songs in reality show history. Tonight will feature Texas mom Kristina Robinson and during the taping of her episode the father of her son Lukas Todd and her fiance at the time, John Todd Hight Jr., passed away tragically in a drowning incident. REPORT Amber Portwood addicted to Suboxone, using prison to quit cold turkey

On Thursday Teen Mom Amber Portwood shocked an Indiana courtroom when she asked to be sent back to prison to serve out her five-year sentence in lieu of returning to the court drug program. She admitted to the judge that she has never been able to stay clean, even while enrolled in the program, and now TMZ is reporting that the drug she is addicted to is Suboxone.
