Netflix changing its pricing plan, separating DVD and streaming subscriptions

Netflix announced on Tuesday that their popular unlimited DVD by mail and unlimited streaming combined package would no longer be available starting immediately for new customers and September 1 for existing customers. The new pricing options are now either $7.99 for unlimited DVDs by mail, $7.99 for unlimited online streaming, or $15.98 for both.

Casey Anthony sentenced to four years in prison for lying to police

Casey Anthony was found innocent of murdering her daughter Caylee Anthony on Tuesday, but lost in the uproar over that verdict is that she was found guilty of four misdemeanor counts of lying to police for which she faced sentencing today. The maximum sentence would have been a year for each count and that is what the judge decided to give her, which means she was sentenced to a total of four years behind bars plus a $1,000 fine for each offense totaling $4,000. It looks like they started shooting Teen Mom Season 3 pretty soon after after Season 2 ended, which is good because the drama in these girls’ lives doesn’t stop for anyone, or anything. In the first episode alone we get to explore the Western ideal of female beauty, the psychology of passive aggressive face-to-face text messages, when birds should fly away from the nest, and learned how to break up with your boyfriend.

Dwight Yoakam working with Beck on new album due out in early 2012

Dwight Yoakam is returning home to Warner Brothers record for his first new album of original material in over five years. He has reportedly already recorded some songs with Beck and will be working alongside producer Joe Chiccarelli (My Morning Jacket, The Shins, The Strokes) on the record, which is due out in early 2012.
