Gwendlyn Brown’s reaction to Season 17, Episode 10 of Sister Wives was very revealing about her experience with Kody Brown as a father. One of the most troubling revelations was Gwendlyn’s assertion that she considered Kody Brown’s spankings to be physically abusive. She also opened up about how painful it is to see him be a present father for Robyn’s kids when she did not get that kind of experience growing up.

She’s released a livestream on her Patreon account addressing many of the Sister Wives controversies. One of the things she touched on was the former marriage between Meri and her father Kody Brown.

Although Janelle and Kody Brown of TLC’s Sister Wives have been through a long rough patch and are currently separated, it looks like Janelle may never actually “divorce” Kody.

When the Brown family of Sister Wives visited Nathan Collier and his two wives Vicki and Christine in a Season 8 that aired January 2015, the Montana-based family was actively seeking a third wife. In the subsequent years they also endured a legal battle in an attempt to obtain a marriage license for Nathan’s second wife Christine. That fight was unsuccessful and Christine has reportedly left the family.

The marriages in the polygamous Brown family of Sister Wives don’t follow the same rules as legal monogamous marriages. Although they were spiritually binding through the Brown family’s former church, when members no longer believe in the faith anymore a divorce can simply be declared, much like a “break-up” in a dating relationship.

This is what Christine did to end her marriage with Kody. He did the same thing with Meri but he just didn’t directly tell her. After years of stringing her along, Meri found out that Kody didn’t consider himself married to her any more while she was taping the Season 17 One-On-One special.

After months of speculation by Sister Wives fans, it appears that Janelle Brown has finally left Kody Brown.

On Season 17, episode 13 of Sister Wives Meri Brown is starting to see some of the hypocrisy in Kody’s treatment of her versus how he treats other wives. Specifically she’s seeing parallels between what he’s complaining about with Christine and how he treats her.
