When The House of Representatives meet on January 24 they will be served with a heaping helping of hot potato in the form of the SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) bill. The legislation is aimed at cracking down on copyright infringement and has ruffled the feathers of a coalition of internet giants such as Google, Facebook, Yahoo!, Twitter, Wikipedia, eBay, and more. The coalition is reportedly considering a “nuclear option” that would mean a synchronized shut down that would bring the internet to a virtual halt.
