Complete list of 2012 Golden Globe winners and nominees

Uggie from The Artist at The 2012 Golden Globes

Ricky Gervais toned down his barbs, if only a bit, as he presided over the Golden Globe Awards last night. Big winners included the black and white silent film The Artist, which took home three Golden Globes including Best Musical or Comedy, and The Descendants which won Best Motion Picture and a Best Actor Award for George Clooney, who was also nominated for directing Ides of March.

Martin Scorsese took home the Best Director Golden Globe for Hugo and Brad Pitt’s Moneyball struck out as neither of its four nominations took home a prize.

Here is a complete list of winners and nominees as well as a few photos and even a video recap! Be sure to tell us what you thought about who won and who didn’t in the comments!

I’ll kick things off with mine:

• I’m a huge fan of Claire Danes and I’ve seen most of the first season of Homeland, but I don’t understand how it beat out Boss, Boardwalk Empire, or even Game of Thrones for that matter. (You don’t want to get me started on the fact that Breaking Bad wasn’t even nominated!)

• I wasn’t a big Kelsey Grammer fan (personally) but he is great in Boss and his award was well-deserved.

• I haven’t seen The Artist. As part of The Weinstein Company’s limited distribution marketing ploy it’s not playing where I live.

• I’m one of those people whose life was altered by The Wire, so I’m glad to see Stringer Idris Elba take home a Golden Globe for his performance in Luther. (Now it’s Chalky White’s turn! OMARRRRR!!!)

• I think George Clooney was even a little less inspired starring as himself in The Descendants than he usually is. I’m just sayin!
