Will True Detective Season 2 have female lead characters?

True Detective writer and creator Nic Pizzolatto briefly tweeted a hint that season 2 of the addictive HBO show might feature women in the lead. Although the show is pure brilliance, one criticism some have had is that it doesn’t feature strong, well-rounded female characters. Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey’s characters and performances are so nuanced and masterful that this is an easy sin to forgive, especially since the show’s format mimics American Horror Story in that each season is a whole new mini-series type tale.

I’m a HUGE fan of HBO’s new series True Detective starring Matthew McConoughey and Woody Harrelson as two distinctly different detectives investigating a bizarre occult-like murder in the cane fields of Louisiana. However, my fandom is strictly reserved to watching the episodes every week, and doesn’t extend to the obsessive True Detective detective work being done online by fans and critics attempting to decipher the seemingly infinite number of clues and Easter eggs hidden throughout the show. Well, at least it didn’t until yesterday morning. According to a Sioux Falls police, Adam was driving his 2001 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 at “a high rate of speed” when he collided with a 2003 Lincoln Town Car driven by 87-year-old Donna L. Fodness.
