After weeks of tabloids referring to them as “best friends,” actress Michelle Rodriguez and model Cara Delevingne are setting the record straight: They are in a romantic relationship.
“It’s going really well. She’s so cool,” Michelle told The Mirror. “When we started hanging out I just thought she was awesome, and we have the best time together.”
Sources close to the new couple say Michelle and Cara met a couple of months ago. They officially began dating in early January — around the same time they were pictured making out at a Madison Square Garden NBA game.
“It’s still really fresh and exciting for both of them. They’re really happy and loved-up, and spending as much time together as possible,” a friend said of Michelle and Cara, who split their time between London and Los Angeles. “They’re also forever texting and messaging one another.”
Friends also said both families are accepting of the new relationship, even though Michelle is 14 years older than the 21-year-old supermodel.
“Michelle has been invited to Poppy [Delevingne]’s hen do in Los Angeles, which is a big deal, and shows just how cool and accepting all Cara’s friends and family are. No one has batted an eyelid.”
Last October, Michelle said she’s “gone both ways” when it comes to hook-ups.
“I do as I please. I am too f**ing curious to sit here and not try when I can. Men are intriguing. So are chicks,” the Fast & Furious actress told Entertainment Weekly.
Cara previously commented she “plays for more than one team” and seemed to swear off boys after relationships with Harry Styles and singer Jake Bugg. She told The Mirror in September, “I’m done with boys, they’re so annoying, all they care about is their willies. I want to behave more like a boy.”
