On Friday the film Bully will hit theaters on a limited release. Unlike the big six studios who can count on amusement parks and cable networks to boost their bottom lines, Lionsgate counts on tv shows and and movies. Despite a few successes over the last four years, some big failures have put them in a bit of a bind. They need a big movie to straighten out their balance sheet. But, just how big does the Hunger Games need to be for Lionsgate to commit to a sequel (or three)?
Gale Hawthorne and Katniss Everdeen are best friends. They are separated by the brutal Hunger Games, but Gale never leaves Katniss’s mind as she negotiates the nationally televised, life-threatening challenges she is obliged to face . . . at least almost never. Liam Hemsworth knows how to play the strong silent type, but there’s more to Gale than that. The movie is artfully crafted and fascinates both baseball fans, and people who hate sports. At the heart it’s not really about sports, it’s about solving problems against formidable opposition, and being brave to fight to make a change in the world when you believe enough in the truth of something.
But the person who truly stole the movie (at least several parts of the movie) was 13-year-old Kerris Dorsey and her rendition of Lenka’s “The Show.

Summit Entertainment has released two new movie poster images for the upcoming Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 film, the first of a two-part grand finale for the Twilight Saga movie franchise. When Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows – Part 1 Ultimate Edition is released (presumably) in November part of the package will include portions of an 8-part documentary entitled, Growing Up With Harry Potter. A first look has been released and it features oh so young versions of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint as they sit down nervously for their very first Harry Potter press conference. It’s a wonderful clip that exemplifies just how much these actors have come of age.
