Variety has finally ended all of the speculation and rumors about who will don the red, white and blue for Marvel’s much-anticipated theatrical adaptation of Captain America. The bearer of the shield will be Marvel super-hero veteran Chris Evans, who lit up the big screen as the The Human Torch Johnny Storm in 2005’s Fantastic Four and 2007’s 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Mo’Nique won the Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture Golden Globe for her performance as Mary Lee Johnston in the movie Precious based on the novel Push by Sapphire. She gave a long, heartfelt acceptance speech in which she thanked God, her husband and director Lee Daniels among many others. It’s a wonderful, touching tribute that was the perfect kickoff for the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

My production FAIL sense is tingling! Deadline.com broke the story earlier today that Sony’s Spider-Man 4 movie, scheduled for a release date of May 5, 2011, has been scrapped and the franchise will receive a “reboot.” That means director Sam Raimi, Spider-Man 1, 2 and 3 Tobey Maguire and the rest of the cast are no longer going to be part of the web-slinger franchise!

Lindsay Lohan was continuing her world record paced bikini marathon in St. Barts Saturday, following up Friday’s 4 swimsuits with two more – although technically one of them appears to be a duplicate from the previous day.
