In the 2018 Vice series Hollywood Love Story, which explored a group of young people trying to make it in the current climate of L.A., Paris Hilton acts as a kind of host or narrator for the show. She pops up in the middle of the stories to interject her own experience of achieving fame in the fickle culture of Hollywood. Of course, Paris had a leg up because she came from a rich and prominent family. However, there were a number of stepping stone opportunities that launched Paris into a household name and long-lasting brand.

A goofy TikTok sound making the rounds is an unearthed clip from the start of a 1986 anti-drug album aimed at kids. The sound starts with a long, silly, and upbeat musical intro, and then a raspy deep voice comes in with “Using crack and cocaine / to get high.”

In 2000, former plastic surgeon Robert Bierenbaum was convicted on the 1985 murder of his wife Gail Katz. Until December 2020 of last year, Robert claimed that he was innocent. Now, he had confessed that he strangled Gail, then dropped her body out over the ocean. He calls these actions “immature.”

On June 22, 2017, 27-year-old Egypt Covington, a singer and beer distributor account manager, was killed in her home while she watched TV. She was shot in the head and her body was wrapped in a string of Christmas lights. Authorities first looked to her ex-boyfriend and others close to her, but no one was ultimately linked to the murder, and the case went cold.
