Reuters and NBC News are investigating a disturbing trend: American parents search online for new parents for the children they adopted from other countries. When some parents clash with the new child from another culture they’ve brought to live with them, they put up “advertisements” for the children online for prospective parents to take them off their hands. Often the ads are brutally honest, describing the worst attributes of the children, or saying that they “hate” them. As it turns out, the type of people looking to take in unwanted children in an unvetted process outside the regulated system, usually don’t have the children’s best interests at heart. But as long as the right document is drawn up and signed, it’s legal, and not considered child trafficking because no money is exchanged.

MTV surprised a lot of folks when they announced their two latest docu-series with commercials during the 2013 Video Music Awards. Big Tips Texas features ten sexy ladies who all work at the controversial Texas “breastaurant” Redneck Heaven and Scrubbing In gets a little less risqué by documenting a group of travel nurses assigned to work at an Orange County, CA hospital for 12 weeks. One thing the commercials didn’t include, however, were premiere dates for either series. MTV remedied that today with an official press release that includes the October premiere dates for both shows as well as more detailed descriptions of each!

Jian Yang, 33, of Singapore, has one of the largest doll collections in the world. Of the 9,000 dolls he owns, 6,000 of them are Barbies. His obsession started when he was 13 and bought “Great Shape” Barbie, which first came out in 1983 and re-released for Toy Story 3. “Before I knew anything about social norms, I was a boy that watched this on TV, liked it and wasn’t allowed to have one,” he says in a clip from a British reality show. “As I grew older, got my own allowance, that’s where I started getting the freedom to buy whatever I wanted.”
