Here’s the deal: lots of people are going to dress up like Miley Cyrus at the VMAs this year. That’s just the fact. Of course, he fervor is mostly ironic, but that doesn’t detract from the fact that foam fingers and twerk teddy bears T-shirt sales are already crazy.
Amazon has several T-shirts and tank tops featuring Miley’s now famous “Twerk Bear” design, but you can click on over to eBay for a more form-fitting, Miley-esque Twerk Bear leotard.
If you go the T-shirt route, you can wear the shirt casually and ironically with your hipster friends.
But your Miley costume would be nothing without the manicured foam finger.
The inventor of the foam finger, 59-year-old Steve Chmelar, isn’t happy about the kind of attention Miley’s VMA performance gave his Americon icon. He told Fox News: “I would say that it certainly misrepresented its intent to encourage team support. She took an honorable icon that is seen in sporting venues everywhere and degraded it.” He does believe, however, that the foam finger’s reputation has not been irrevocably tarnished. “Fortunately, the foam finger has been around long enough that it will survive this incident.” Whew!
