Let me start out by staying the child in this video reportedly suffered only minor injuries (miraculously) and is fine.

That being said, check out this early contender for 2012 Parental Fail of the Year as a laundromat security camera catches a dad placing his young child inside of an upright washing machine and closing the door as an apparent joke. Mom seems amused as she stands off to the side. But, panic sets in as the washing machine starts up and they are unable to open the door!

Visually-impaired 11-year-old to compete at Scripps National Spelling Bee

Richelle Zampella is an 11-year-old spelling machine reminder that we all should probably quit our belly aching! On May 30, the Oklahoma native will compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. She’ll join the other 275-odd participants at the Bee but her experience is an extremely unique one. The fifth-grader who in March won the Eastern Oklahoma State Spelling Bee, is legally blind. She’s been learning to read and write in Braille since the tender age of five. See a video report about Richelle and find out how you can help her father and sister fly to D.C. to cheer her on.

Shawn told Reality Weekly magazine “I’m encouraging her 100 percent all the way. We have talked about her getting an education. But I told her to hold off on college and try to get into the military, which she wants to do anyway. Then, once her service is up, she will have her college paid for, like I do right now.”

23-year-old former prostitute and drug addict Kandice Machado got pregnant from a one-night stand. She is featured on the TLC show Birth Moms, which follows Kandice and two other pregnant young women (Lindsay Batts, and Taylor Walters)who stay at an adoption center and decide whether or not to place their child in an adoptive home.

Kandice, who already has two kids (one was a crack baby,) is seen smoking on camera, openly shoplifts, talks about shoplifting (she calls it “professional shopping,”) and demands alcohol.

Cops appeal excessive force ruling to Supreme Court after tazing pregnant woman three times

After refusing to sign a speeding ticket or getting out of her car after being pulled over for speeding, Seattle resident Malaika Brooks who was in her third trimester of pregnancy was tazed 3 times even though the 3 officers on hand were aware of her delicate condition. Courts later ruled that they used excessive force but the officers were not legally held accountable because the laws governing the use of Tasers were muddy at the time. The officers have appealed the decision and now it is up to the Supreme Court on whether or not they want to hear the case next week. General curator for the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo in New York Pat Thomas did an experiment in 2003 with a variety of popular perfumes to see which ones held the big cat’s attention for the longest. It’s actually an old zoo trick to spray perfume on rocks and trees to keep the animals from getting too bored, but some work much better than others. Your Cat: The Owner’s Manual author Dr. Marty Becker took this information to mean you can also spray this fragrance on say, a scratching post, or maybe a toy, to get your own kitty’s attention focused. I haven’t read the book, but he put this information out there on GMA, so we assume that he’s actually tried this on actual domesticated small kitty cats. He did write the book on cats, after all.
