Artis and Jess: The strangest Catfish yet?

Nev had injured his foot working out and was on crutches, but he still had to spring to action and prevent a fight at the conclusion of this week’s Catfish. It was a usual Catfish scenario in that there were too many red-flags to mention, but what was really going on was completely unexpected and unprecedented on the show.

Are Catfish’s Jesse and Brian still together?

Tuesday night’s Catfish told the story of Jesse and Brian, who had been chatting for three years online. They almost met up once, but Brian flaked, and Jesse didn’t know why. Thankfully Nev and Max came to the rescue by uncovering the disturbing reason why Brian didn’t show that day. Were they able to make it work after the truth came out?

Why do people still get Catfished even though it’s so easy to avoid?

With his documentary film and MTV television show Nev Schulman and his production teams have shone a light on a new problem for our technologically advanced age: “Catfishing,” or entering into a romantic relationship with someone online while pretending to be someone that you’re not. If you’re chatting with someone online, there’s a simple solution to see if they’re who they say they are. If you absolutely cannot meet up with them, you can video chat. This capability wasn’t as widely available a few years ago, but now that webcams and cellphone cams are so prevalent, it’s no longer an excuse. If your online professional crush says they can’t afford any sort of camera on their model salary, they probably know someone who does and would let them use it for a few minutes. Getting Catfished is so easy to avoid, and even more so now that the TV show Catfish is so popular, probably making many people face the truths of their online relationships that they’ve been trying to avoid. So why does Catfishing still happen?

VIDEO Update, more info on Catfish’s Lauren & Derek: how are they doing now?

Just like most Catfish episodes, last night’s offered some formidable red flags. Lauren had met her online love Derek eight years ago on MySpace when she was 14 and had never done a video chat with him. Once she was five hours away from him and wanted to visit, but he made up excuses and wouldn’t let her. When Nev and Max did some digging, they found someone very different from the person Lauren thought she was talking too. What happened with Lauren’s Catfish, and how are they doing now?

Catching up with Catfish who weren’t at the reunion show

Catching up with Catfish who weren’t at the reunion show

Last night’s reunion show brought together some of the most dramatic couples of the night (I’m looking at you, Mhissy and Jasmine), but some pairs were notably missing. After a little investigation work, I’ve managed to track down some details on what the remaining couples have been up to since filming.

Why was Catfish’s Average Joe Sumeniski arrested?

Tonight’s “Catfish: The Reunion Show” on MTV was quite the dramatic doozy with lots and lots of tension between most of the couples they brought back. Though Mhissy and Jasmine clearly had the most animosity between them, Kari Ann Peniche impersonator Rose and “Average Joe” weren’t far behind as they answered questions very abruptly, seemingly without even being able to look at each other. At one point Rose even mentioned that Joe had been arrested since the show was taped! So what did he do? Keep reading to find out!

Catfish star Sunny Cross mug shot photo for DWI

In the very first episode of MTV’s Catfish we met Sunny Cross, a 21-year-old nursing student at the University of Arkansas who had fallen for Jamison, a handsome model living in Los Angeles. I won’t reveal what happens on the front page here (although I do in the post, so SPOILER ALERT!), but I will reveal that Sunny is extending her 15 minutes with a DWI arrest Sunday morning. Keep reading to see Sunny’s rather sunny mug shot photo and also read her hilarious string of tweets that includes a rather acrimonious interaction with TMZ founder Harvey Levin!

VIDEO Adam Levine’s SNL Catfish skit as Nev Schulman

MTV’s new reality series Catfish is getting a great deal of exposure thanks to Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o’s headline-grabbing relationship with girlfriend (aka a “catfish”) Lennay Kekua, who later turned out to be a hoax perpetrated by Ronaiah Tuiasosopo and his cousin Tino Tuiasosopo. The popular show (which has already been renewed for a second season) was also the focus of a Saturday Night Live skit last night in which The Voice‘s Adam Levine played Catfish host Nev Schulman in a hilarious spoof!

Manti Te’o saga puts MTV’s Catfish in limelight

In the wake of Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o’s incredulous story, MTV’s Catfish is getting some serious exposure. Find out what co-creators Nev Schulman and Max Joseph had to say about the explosive new interest in “catfishing” and how all of this could result in a serious ratings spike for the already well-received show.

MTV renews Catfish for season 2

Most fans who fell in love with Catfish the movie were a little bit wary when it was announced MTV would be taking the concept and turning it into weekly show. (It could be said we didn’t want to be too optimistic about the show until we met it in person, in case it turned out to be a catfish itself!) Well, the series is six episodes in and I don’t know about you, but I know about me and the other 2+ million folks who are tuning in each week — we’re addicted! Of course, MTV is well aware that viewers have taken to the show, and they announced earlier this week they will be bringing back Yaniv “Nev” Schulman and Max Joseph for a Catfish Season 2!

VIDEO – Why is MTV’s ‘Catfish’ TV show called Catfish?

In 2010 Catfish, a documentary film called by Nev Schulman, became all the rage because of it’s skillful presentation of Nev’s journey to find the woman he thought he had fallen in love with on Facebook. Not only was he excited to see this woman, Megan, who he had feelings for, but he’d gotten to know a lot about her family, especially Megan’s younger sister Abbey, who is a painting prodigy.

Now there’s an MTV show based on the same principle, but what does “Catfish” mean? What is the origina of the term?
