Is the Twitter account @PersianLa27 actually Amanda Bynes?
Last spring, when things were actually looking good for Amanda Bynes, there were rumors that she was still up to her old ways on an anonymous Twitter account, @PersianLa27. On the feed, then-named “Ashley Barks” tweeted about going to the gym, ugly people, Aries horoscopes, being a fashion student and a dog with the same moniker as Amanda’s… Which were all things Amanda actively tweeted about before she was hospitalized.
“If this isn’t Amanda Bynes’ private Twitter account, then someone is doing a very good job of impersonating her,” a social media expert told InTouch in March.
However, Amanda attempted to dispel the rumor on her verified Twitter account: “FYI This is my only twitter account, I have no secret twitter accounts. Xoxo Amanda.”
For a while, that seemed to be that. Then, sadly, things fell apart for Amanda in a very public way last month when she was arrested for driving under the influence. In the days since, more details have emerged about her allegedly “out of control” behavior, she’s fled to New York City and was filmed nearly biking into people on a busy street.

All the while, PersianLa27 has been tweeting — with a few notable differences from last spring: Even though she corrected someone a few days ago to say that her name is Ashley, PersianLa27 has since changed her official profile name to Amanda.

After that, though, PersianLa27 changed her profile picture to one of the retired actress (shown at top), demanded people take down unflattering pictures of Amanda and even shared a link from the private AmandaBynesFashion Instagram page showing a hand with a lit joint.
PersianLa27 has most people so convinced that many are now directly linking to her in lieu of Amanda’s verified account.

Still, the case isn’t entirely closed: A former FIDM classmates said Amanda was definitely not using a phone to tweet during school, even though PersianLa27 posted messages during that time.

Even more recently, some diligent watchers of the account noted that PersianLa27 was actively tweeting while Amanda was in custody for her DUI. Then, when that news broke, PersianLa27 deleted the tweets.
Throughout my years writing about celebrities, I’ve been downright amazed to see the lengths some people go to just to impersonate a celebrity — even in the cases of random girls from old seasons of 16 & Pregnant. So, I am very able to believe that a person who is now getting so much attention would be willing to keep up the fake Amanda ruse for so long.
That being said, there are many aspects of the PersianLa27 account that point to the conclusion it really is Amanda. For now, I’m about 70 percent sure the account is legitimate… But your guess is as good as mine.
