Georgia rapper Yung Hott was gunned down Saturday night while filming his first video in his hometown of Griffin, Georgia – about 40 miles south of Atlanta. Yung Hott, whose real name is Jerode Paige, was shooting a video for his single “Killin’ ‘Em” at about 6 PM near the corner of near the intersection of Tinsley and Fourth streets when police estimate 20 rounds were fired.

For Nashville: Top 5 Country Songs About Floods

The death toll from the recent flooding in Tennessee, Kentucky and Mississippi has risen to 31, according to reports from CNN.com. Hardest hit by the torrential rains was Tennessee and its capital city, the home of country music, Nashville. 21 people have died in the Volunteer State and 10 of its counties have been declared disaster areas by President Obama. Damages in Nashville alone are expected to exceed $1 billion.

In honor of our Southern brothers and sisters suffering through this natural disaster I’ve put together what I think are some of the best songs ever written about the damages caused by too much rain, sung in the voices of some of country music’s greatest performers. Kelly Clarkson has sprung a leak and previously unreleased songs just keep pouring out! Earlier this week the songs “Lover Stay,” “Naked Eye” and the demo “Cleopatra” all made their way onto the web leading some to speculate that Clarkson or someone at RCA must have had their computer or online account hacked.

George Clinton’s son found dead in Tallahassee apartment

According to an official press release from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, George Everette Clinton, Jr. was found dead in his Halstead Boulevard apartment in Tallahassee, Florida February 1, 2010. Clinton is the son of Parliament and Funkadelic mastermind George Clinton, who was in attendance at the 52nd GRAMMY Awards the night before in Los Angeles.

She performed two headlining shows this summer at the world’s largest jazz festival in Montreal (the fifth time she has performed there), she was picked by songwriters Alan Frew and Stephan Moccio to record the CTV’s 2010 Winter Olympics broadcast theme “I Believe,” her debut studio album is due out this spring with songwriting help from the likes of Ron Sexsmith, Jesse Harris and Feist and production by the legendary Phil Ramone. Oh, and in a couple months she will be finishing up the 10th grade.
