Another new song from Katy Perry’s upcoming second album has hit the internet! The song is called “Futuristic Lover” and it plays on an extraterrestrial metaphor with lines like “wanna be your victim, ready for abduction” and “you’re from a whole ‘nother world, a different dimension.” This seems to support my theory that Russell Brand is actually from another planet! The death toll from the recent flooding in Tennessee, Kentucky and Mississippi has risen to 31, according to reports from CNN.com. Hardest hit by the torrential rains was Tennessee and its capital city, the home of country music, Nashville. 21 people have died in the Volunteer State and 10 of its counties have been declared disaster areas by President Obama. Damages in Nashville alone are expected to exceed $1 billion.

It’s an exciting time for Canadian-born singer Nikki Yanofsky. She performed two headlining shows this summer at the world’s largest jazz festival in Montreal (the fifth time she has performed there), she was picked by songwriters Alan Frew and Stephan Moccio to record the CTV’s 2010 Winter Olympics broadcast theme “I Believe,” her debut studio album is due out this spring with songwriting help from the likes of Ron Sexsmith, Jesse Harris and Feist and production by the legendary Phil Ramone. Oh, and in a couple months she will be finishing up the 10th grade.

Conan O’Brien ended his 20-plus years of working for NBC tonight and not only did he do it with class and dignity, he did it with the Godfather of Grunge Neil Young!!
Conan introduced Neil Young by saying that after it was announced that Conan would no longer be the host of The Tonight Show, Neil was the first to call and offer his support. Neil delivered an acoustic performance of “Long May You Run” that must have punched Conan right in the chrome heart.
