Troubled former 16 and Pregnant star Joshua Drummonds is scheduled to be released from jail in Texas today after he accepted a plea deal stemming from an altercation at a hospital in September. Josh was initially facing two felony charges after he allegedly attacked hospital staff and attempted to take a security guard’s gun. Josh was reportedly in the hospital at the time awaiting transport to a Houston psychiatric hospital after an attempted suicide.
Josh entered the plea deal earlier today, which resulted in the felony count of attempting to take a weapon from an officer being dismissed. The remaining felony count of assault on a public servant was dropped to a misdemeanor count of assault causing bodily injury. Josh was sentenced to 365 days in county jail and credited with 216 days time served.
Despite having 149 days remaining on his sentence, it seems the 216 days already served was enough to warrant Josh’s immediate release. According to online jail records as well as VINE, Josh will be getting out today — the same day as his plea and sentencing. We called the Galveston County Jail and they confirmed that Josh is scheduled to be released later today.
We reached out to Nikkole for her reaction. “We are all in shock,” Nikkole says, after revealing that she only found out about Josh’s release moments ago. “Nobody expected him to be out any time soon and everyone feels really unprepared for this change. And were just praying nothing bad happens and we’re taking all the precautions to keep me and the kids safe.”
Given Josh’s history of threatening behavior, Nikkole’s concerns are extremely merited.
