ESPN Announcer Tony Kornheiser suspended after Hannah Storm go-go boots comment

Minnesota Vikings v Washington Redskins

Co-host of Pardon the Interruption and former Monday Night Football booth man Tony Kornheiser has been suspended two weeks by ESPN for comments he made about ESPN SportsCenter co-anchor Hannah Storm. Here is the official statement from ESPN executive vice president of content John Skipper:

“Tony Kornheiser’s comments about Hannah Storm were entirely inappropriate. Hurtful and personal comments such as these are not acceptable and have significant consequences. Tony has been suspended from PTI for two weeks. Hannah is a respected colleague who has been an integral part of the success of our morning SportsCenter.”

Hannah Storm in her sexy go-go boots and plaid Catholic schoolgirl skirtKornheiser apologized for the comments on his radio show, but apparently that wasn’t enough.

In case you missed it, here is what he said on his radio show February 16 that eventually led to the suspension:

“Hannah Storm in a horrifying, horrifying outfit today. She’s got on red go-go boots and a catholic school plaid skirt … way too short for somebody in her 40s or maybe early 50s by now.” [She’s 47.] “She’s got on her typically very, very tight shirt. She looks like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body … I know she’s very good, and I’m not supposed to be critical of ESPN people, so I won’t … but Hannah Storm … come on now! Stop! What are you doing? … She’s what I would call a Holden Caulfield fantasy at this point.”

He then called Hannah Storm to apologize. You can hear the entire apology story HERE – it’s right at the beginning. TheBigLead.com boiled it down this way:

“I apologize, unequivocally … I’m a sarcastic, subversive guy … I’m a troll, look at me. I have no right to insult what anybody looks like or what anybody wears. That, I think, should go without saying.” Hannah was cordial, and said, “maybe you should take this …you have a following, maybe you should take this as food for thought.”

But apparently ESPN doesn’t think Tony was completely in the wrong as Deadspin is reporting they have asked Hannah to not wear her infamous go-go boots (as well as a couple other items) any more! Huh?

I guess this is the unfortunate line in the sand that will prevent all of us horny sports-loving males from receiving our sports news from bikini-clad hotties on trampolines. GRRRRRRR!!!! Stupid Tony Kornheiser! Oh well, maybe Hooters will launch their own sports network soon. (That’s a million dollar idea by the way! You heard it here first!)

****It should be noted that the outfit Hannah Storm is wearing above may or may not be the exact one Tony Kornheiser made disparaging remarks about.
