Rumors about Tyga allegations–that the 26-year-old rapper had some sort of a relationship with a 14-year-old girl–have swirled for weeks, ever since the latest round of Kylie Jenner and Tyga drama. Now, it appears that those rumors have something more specific behind them: namely, a teenaged model who says Tyga reached out to her and sent her a series of “uncomfortable” messages.
The initial Tyga allegations were these: just before Christmas, the social media personality and occasional rapper, is said to have gotten into a fight with Kylie over a series of conversations Kylie discovered between Tyga and a 14-year-old girl that he met on Instagram. Tyga, who is best-known as Kylie Jenner’s boyfriend, dismissed the Tyga allegations with prejudice; at the time, though, a reported insider had the following to say about the situation: “He’s texted [the 14-year-old] every day, and he’s tried to FaceTime with her, too. He keeps telling her how beautiful she is and how he can’t wait to hang out with her…”
Those rumors surfaced two weeks ago, just before the Christmas holiday, and were dampened by subsequent and unrelated rumors that Tyga had bought Kylie a huge diamond engagement ring as a Christmas gift. The diamond ring story turned out to be untrue; it was debunked by Kylie herself…but the Tyga allegations regarding the 14-year-old now have details to support them.
According to People, aspiring model and singer Molly O’Malia, 14, claims that Tyga “initiated unwanted and ‘uncomfortable’ contact with her” through social media. O’Malia appeared at a press conference yesterday with high-profile attorney Gloria Allred to detail her allegations, and had to wipe away tears several times.
Said O’Malia,
The truth is that Tyga contacted me first. He direct messaged me on Instagram. I knew who he was but I was surprised that he was contacting me. I thought that it could possibly be about my music, but he did not mention that in his initial communication with me. I thought that was strange, but I was thinking he would bring that up in his next message to me. However, he didn’t mention it in the next message….I began to feel uncomfortable when he asked me to FaceTime with him. He asked me to FaceTime three times, but I did not do it. Because of my discomfort with why he wanted to communicate with me I quickly stopped responding to him. It’s crazy how so much can come out of nothing.
The girl’s mother, Anne Lowry O’Malia, issued a separate statement in which she criticized OK! Magazine for insinuating that there had been a sexual relationship betweel Molly and Tyga.
Tyga’s reps were quick to issue an overall rebuttal. Manager Anthony Martini told TMZ that his client did indeed reach out to the 14-year-old girl–but said that he did so because he was impressed with her singing ability. Martini said O’Malia told Tyga that she was actually 17 years old, and that, every time Tyga asked to FaceTime with the teenager, it’s because he was sitting in a room full of producers, all of whom wanted to hear her sing.
Tyga was widely criticized throughout 2015 for being in an alleged relationship with Kylie Jenner while Kylie was 17, which is younger than the age of consent in California. The pair went public after Kylie’s 18th birthday in August.
Kylie Jenner has not offered a comment on the Tyga allegations.
