Breaking Amish’s Chapel Peace Schmucker gets chemo, forgoes Gerson cancer treatment in Mexico

It was a gut-wrenching moment on Return to Amish when cast member Chapel Peace revealed her cancer had returned. Since the cameras stopped rolling we’ve continued to update fans on how Chapel (now a Schmucker) is doing, with our last check in coming back in July. At the time Chapel had launched a Go Fund Me campaign in hopes of raising enough money to pay for her to receive the alternative Gerson Therapy treatment in Mexico. That campaign has raised nearly $4,000 to date, so what has that meant for Chapel? Keep reading for all the latest updates from her.

VIDEOS Return To Amish’s Chapel Peace cancer update: raising funds for Gerson Therapy treatment in Mexico

On the current season of Return to Amish we’ve seen Chapel Peace and her soon-to-be husband Andrew Schmucker wrestling with the devastating news that her cancer has returned. Chapel has revealed how difficult the chemo treatment process was the first time she was diagnosed with the disease, and last night it was announced on her and Andrew’s Facebook fan page that she wants to try an alternative treatment called The Gerson Therapy. The alternative treatment is not covered by insurance and the page provides a link to a fundraising campaign at GoFundMe.com to help raise $1,500 so she and Andrew can make the trip and begin her treatment.

UPDATE – The campaign has been so successful, Chapel has upped the goal to $5,000! Watch two videos of Chapel, in which she is obviously weakened by her current treatment, and read her appreciative comments to her supporters.
