Arrest warrant issued for Nathan Griffith in NC

Nathan Griffith wanted poster after warrant issued for his arrest in North Carolina

The girlfriend of Teen Mom 2 dad Nathan Griffith apparently doesn’t want him, but the state of North Carolina does! A judge issued an arrest warrant for the 33-year-old former reality star after he was a no show for a court hearing stemming from his 2019 DWI arrest.

TMZ broke the news about Nathan’s latest warrant earlier today. In case you missed it, Nathan was arrested in October of 2019 after he was reportedly found “unconscious in the parking lot of grocery store Harris Teeter.”

UPDATE – “Nathan’s attorney, James Jackson, tells TMZ there’s been some sort of mistake with the court. Jackson says Nathan was never supposed to appear during a February court date and didn’t need to show face at an upcoming May date either.” TMZ later spoke with a court clerk that confirmed Nathan’s warrant has been recalled.

Here’s what a Cary Police Department rep told Radar Online about Nathan’s arrest at the time:

“He was found unconscious in the parking lot of grocery store Harris Teeter,” Sergeant Mike Ring told Radar. “His car was running. The fire department notified us when they realized it wasn’t medical, it was impairment.”

Griffith failed a series of field sobriety tests, including horizontal gaze nystagmus, walk and turn, and one-leg stand. He refused a breathalyzer test.

“He was impaired,” the officer said. “Empty alcohol containers were found in the car. No drugs were found at the scene.”

Nathan later sent a video to TMZ to explain his side of the story, which didn’t seem to clarify anything at all. Here is the video followed by a full transcript of what Nathan says:

So supposedly there was a call or disturbance thing, and a man was sleeping behind his car and, um, or, like, not behind his car, but in his car. So anyways. Anyways, the fire station showed up and I pretty much practically told them I didn’t want to deal with them, and I said everything was fine. I was going ahead and meeting some friends.

And so, of course, I locked my doors. And I was walking down the street, you know, to go meet my friends, and about a good four or five minutes, you know, I get pulled over by a police officer. He told me to walk back to my vehicle. They could not get in my vehicle. They asked me if I was sleeping and if the car was being operated. I said, “No, ma’am.” At the time it was a ma’am I was talking to, or a female officer.

They gave me a sobriety test. I think they were highly subjective to whether I was passing or failing those sobriety tests.

And, so anyways, they arrest me for DUI. And I was, like, “How are you arresting me for DUI if I’m not even behind a vehicle, operating a vehicle on a public asset? And my vehicle wasn’t even turned on?” And they said, “Well, we have witnesses saying that you were sleeping behind your wheel with the vehicle turned on.”

I said, “Obviously not because I can’t even get in my vehicle.” And, so I said, “Well, the least you could do is arrest me for public intoxication.”

I won’t try to tackle all of what Nathan attempted to say, but I will point out one part: Nathan says that he locked his doors after the fire department initially arrived on the scene, and then later he told police that he couldn’t have been behind the wheel because he was locked out. 🤦‍♀️ I hope for Nathan’s sake that he lets his public defender speak for him in court, if he ever decides to show up.

If you (and/or North Carolina police) are wondering where Nathan is these days, the answer is Tennessee. As we previously reported, he recently broke up with his long-time girlfriend Ashley Lanhardt. After the split, Nathan relocated from Florida to his mother Doris’ house in the Volunteer State.

Nathan, who has developed quite a large and devoted following thanks to his philosophical insights and wisdom, recently updated his Instagram followers on his post-Ashley status:

His latest entry in the “Book of Nate” was a bit difficult to read over top of his beard and shaven bare chest, so here is a transcript:

Sometimes we look in the future trying to shape our lives how we want it to be. At the time we might be disappointed how our lives are shaping because we aren’t fully in control of it. But, I promise you, if you have faith in our Lord, he has the best future for you.

Speaking of the Lord having the breast future for you, Nathan recently shared a photo of himself and his 6-year-old son Kaiser at their favorite restaurant:

OK Nathan.

Nathan’s DWI isn’t the only recent legal trouble for Nathan. He was in court last year for allegedly stalking a woman in Florida:
