Is Remy Ma pregnant? Or have all the pregnancy stories involving herself and husband Papoose been rumors after all? She and Papoose appeared to announce a baby girl earlier this year, but it’s been all rumors since then–and a new video appears to put the kibosh on any and all pregnancy plans, now that Remy’s career is ascendant once more.
The Remy Ma pregnancy rumors first emerged during taping for LHHNY’s Season 6 reunion. It appeared that Remy was indeed pregnant–and that her announcement upstaged the news that not only was Tara Wallace expecting another one of Peter Gunz’s children, but Amina Buddafly was, as well.
Then, a few days later, Remy and Papoose appeared to go ahead and reveal both the gender of their baby and the name they intended to give the child. According to that update, the couple was expecing a baby girl, and they chose the name Shamella Mackie. (The name was intended as tribute to Papoose, whose real name is Shamele Mackie.)
Remy and Papoose never made an official pregnancy announcement, though, and fans heard nothing more as LHHNY Season 6 came to a close. Over the summer, the silence was punctuated briefly when a handful of gossip columns published stories alleging that Remy was pregnant–but their content was exactly the same as what several sites, Starcasm among them, had published three months earlier.
However, it’s now been approximately nine months since the first Remy Ma pregnancy announcement hit the blogs. And, unless there’s some new pregnancy math out there, Remy should be sporting a truly huge, seconds-away-from-popping baby bump by now, if not holding little Shamella in her arms. Yet, a quick glance through her Instagram feed–
–reveals nary a trace of baby evidence.
So, what gives? Is Remy Ma pregnant? Or did something happen that she and Papoose never made public? A new sneak peek from VH1 might clue fans in. According to the clip, Remy and Papoose are in discord about when exactly to have a baby: he wants to go all in right now, but she would rather wait awhile, since her career has started to take off again.
The clip doesn’t solve the mystery of the unofficial pregnancy announcement from last spring–and since the news was never official, it’s possible that Remy and Papoose weren’t actually expecting a child in the first place. But it does offer some helpful new information:
Love & Hip Hop New York Season 7 continues Monday nights on VH1.
