Amber Portwood visited by daughter Leah for first time since entering prison
Incarcerated Teen Mom cast member Amber Portwood was visited by her daughter Leah for the first time since voluntarily entering prison almost 11 months ago. The last time Amber had seen Leah in person was Easter of last year.
Leah’s father, Gary Shirley, had promised Dr. Drew Pinsky during a segment of the Amber Portwood Behind Bars special that he would make sure mom and daughter would visit. Faced with some criticism in the amount of time it’s taken, Gary explained that problems with paperwork was the culprit for the delay. Apparently Shirley got that straightened out as he shared the news that Leah had spent time with her mom via his Twitter account.
So @leah_leann taking her bath. Getting her all pretty for her to see her mommy:) xo ha

A friend then tweeted out that Gary was going to see Amber and he replied, “That’s right.”
Aww @leah_leann is upset cause she thinks were going to far to see mommy she’s use to the shorter drives you know.

After the visitation Gary wrote that it, “Went very well.” He also spoke with Jaimie’s Reality stating that Amber and Leah got to play Jenga and that Amber is in a “great state of mind.”
From all accounts, Amber has been doing very well in regards to her goals of turning her life around. While her sentence was for 5 years, her brother Shawn stated that she could be released as early as this year — taking into consideration good behavior and her willingness to take advantage of available programs.
