Ragan Fox

The big surprise twist to season 12 of Big Brother is that there is going to be a “Saboteur” that will exist solely to mess things up in the house.  Here is how CBS is describing this new trouble making house guest:

This season, one house guest, the “saboteur,” will enter the Big Brother house with one goal in mind – to secretly wreak havoc on the other guests – and we need YOU to help us give him or her the tasks!

HOW IT WILL WORK

1. On July 15, tune in to the first Big Brother live show to find out who the Saboteur is

2. Come back to CBS.com/bbtwist to start submitting your sabotage suggestions

3. Tune in to Big Brother to see if your suggestions are played out by the Saboteur on air!

After reviewing the 13 guests that will be vying for the grand prize, my money is on the Fantastic Mr. Ragan Fox.  This sly Fox has quite the Saboteur’s resume and I’ve put together some of the evidence below that would support my belief that he will be revealed as the Saboteur du jour on July 15th!

He has an established performing career:

Ragan Fox is a very popular and well established gay slam poet and author.  While he lists college professor as his career, this certainly is not the only thing Mr. Fox is known for professionally.  There are a number of live performance videos on the web  for the 34-year-old from West Hollywood, California.  See right there, he’s Hollywood folks.

Here is a sample of Ragan’s slam poetry about his father called Heredity:

(some of the content in the following videos is adult in nature)

And here is another video titled Suburbs:

You can tell from those clips that Ragan is a talented performer – familiar with the ins and outs of being in front of the camera and a live audience.

He is an established and popular author:

Ragan is the author of a well-received book titled Exile in Gayville.  Here is a review from a fellow author, Karyna McGlynn, in which she raves about the book:

“Exile in Gayville probes the root of our glittering, American paranoia as it attempts to organize the detritus of the speaker’s past into a comprehensible mythology. Fox methodically plays pick-up sticks with the fragments of his formative years in a way that is more detective-like than confessional. Declarative, essayistic, playful, and vividly descriptive, Gayville reads more like a fragmented experimental memoir than a collection of poems. At times surreal, language-y, and often heartbreakingly funny, Fox mans multiple forms (micro-play, curriculum vitae, ballad, litany, epistle, flarf, index) in order to fully navigate the gay gyre. In this way, the poet manages to gauge not only his own pulse, but that of a post-Prop 8 nation.”

(Ragan also wrote the books Heterophobia and Gays in (Cyber-) Space.)

An established author with favorable book reviews certainly is not your standard Big Brother contestant qualifications, especially when the theme for the season is all about the beach.  Do I need to remind you who won last year (Jordan) to prove my point?

The guy has his own podcast that airs on Sirius Radio:

I bet your starting to scratch your head just like I was now.  Our man Ragan Fox is already a globally known entity.  His podcast is called Fox and the City. You can take a listen to Fox riff on all things going on inside his head here.  It’s actually pretty good stuff.

Mr. Ragan Fox is a blogger:

Take it from me: you have to be brilliant and undermining to be a blogger!  Ragan’s blog is called America’s Next Top Bottom.  (Pretty fun and clever I have to admit.)  Bottom is a clearing house for all things Ragan Fox up to and including his course syllabi for his students.

I can just see him in a crowded room with the Big Brother suits telling them exactly how the show can get ratings and how he, as the Saboteur, can insure weekly drama in the BB house!  Us bloggers know this stuff, we sit around all day just thinking about how all the shows we write about could be better.

I’ll say it again,my money is on Mr. Fox as the surprise Saboteur for Big Brother season 12 which in all likelihood means it will be someone else…
