The Plath family, stars of the TLC series Welcome to Plathville, recently reunited… leaving out a few key members. See who was (and wasn’t) in attendance as the conservative Christian family gathered together.
Matriarch Kim Plath shocked everyone at the beginning of Welcome to Plathville Season 4 with her sudden change in behavior. She was dancing to hip hop, going to the gym regularly, and even opened her own dance studio. She also announced that she was leaving Barry, her husband of almost 25 years. Now, it looks like Barry has also been hitting the gym pretty hard as the famous family evolves and restructures.
On Welcome to Plathville Olivia Plath has had issues with her mother-in-law Kim Plath from the start of the show and has been a catalyst in helping her husband and his younger siblings explore the world outside of their rural, disconnected childhoods. Olivia Plath also grew up in a family similar to the Plaths. In fact, that’s how she met Ethan. Because both Olivia and Ethan had limited contact with other people, the fact that their families had similar beliefs and practices made their parents feel like it was okay for them to date and get married.
In Season 4 Kim Plath has given her family, and viewers of Welcome to Plathville, a bit of whiplash by backtracking on her behavior and “rules” for her family. For decades Kim and Barry Plath lived mostly outside of society and shunned alcohol, sugar, all mainstream media, and most interaction with the outside world. Now, Kim has completely changed, is divorcing Barry, and no longer has such strict expectations for her children.
Over drinks with her son Micah, Kim explains that a personal trauma could have caused her to be overprotective of her children.
21-year-old Micah Plath is definitely the most adventurous of his siblings, and he seems to have no intention of settling down romantically. He’s currently living a nomadic couch-surfing life and spending most of his time in Los Angles, CA trying to make it as a model. He’s made it clear that he’s playing the field pretty heavily, but has shot scenes for the show with a vibrant young woman named Antia. Are the pair dating, or it this more of a “showmance?”
