PHOTO Jackie Christie daughter drama: Third-degree burns, unpaid medical bills open family-wide rift
Basketball Wives LA‘s Jackie Christie daughter drama is always close to the surface, thanks to ongoing tension between herself and estranged daughter Takari. This week, as BBWLA prepped its Season 5 reunion, that drama bubbled over thanks to a heated dispute between Jackie and Takari over Takari’s son suffering a painful accident at daycare–and the four-figure medical bill that ensued.
According to Takari, her eight-month-old son Jaxson was at daycare when, due to a freak mishap, he “was badly burned on his head, neck, and chest.” Jaxson was rushed to the hospital and, as far as we know, is likely to make a full recovery–but his condition requires regular checkups, and meant that Takari was stuck with a $3,000 medical bill she didn’t have the means to pay. To that end, then, she set up a GoFundMe page–and support came pouring in.
Here’s Takari’s description of the incident, from that page:
Jaxson is a very happy- go- lucky lil 8 month old baby who was badly burned on his head, neck, and chest while being cared for at a local daycare earlier this week. Due to the extent of his injuries he has to go at least once a week to Harborview M.C. to meet with the children’s burn unit. His mother cannot go to work and doesn’t have enough vacation time to cover the extended leave she will need to provide around the clock care for Jaxson. At this point their family needs assistance to cover the financial hardships that this horrible injury will create in the near future until any legal matters are handled. This includes things such as transportation to and from Seattle each week, some bills, groceries, etc. Any little bit counts and will be greatly appreciated by Kari and her children. If you can’t donate it’s okay, but if you can share this page that would help greatly! Thank you very much.
Additionally, here’s a photo of Jaxson in recovery, shared by mom Takari:
Takari managed to get a couple of high-profile contributors to her cause: Matt Barnes, along with former BBWLA star Evelyn Lozada, each chipped in the full $3,000. (So far, Takari has raised over $15,000 for Jaxson.) But Takari’s mother Jackie Christie did not contribute–and she took some serious social media heat for it. Jackie first responded to her critics via an article at TMZ, saying that she’d help “if my daughter asked for it.” In Jackie’s view, she’s helped Takari “plenty” over the years, and her daughter should have been able to afford a $3,000 bill without outside assistance.
Jackie also clapped back on Twitter, suggesting that the full story had yet to be told:
Guess it's my hell week funny how anything viewed as positive can so quickly be tarnished by lies & propaganda but hey we all know?#slander
