The new season of Love After Lockup premieres tonight, and we’re rolling out yet another HUGE spoiler! This time we’re spilling the tea on Rachel and her felonious fella Doug.
I will start with the couple’s official bio blurb from WE tv, which reveals a lot about the couple — including the fact that they were married before Doug’s release:
Rachel met her new love on Write a Prisoner and after two previous prison relationships she’s convinced the third time’s a charm! Rachel and Doug got married while he was in prison and have never been intimate before. A ladies’ man and a true bad boy, Doug has been in and out of prison since he was 18 and has an 11 year old son whom Doug believes Rachel is too soft on and plans to get the household into shape when he is released. He has never been faithful in any of his relationships but thinks things will be different with Rachel – a hard working woman who is able to provide for him and his son. Is Rachel his true love or is this just more baloney?
If you haven’t seen the preview trailer for the new season of Love After Lockup, then you probably missed the joke in that last sentence. Rachel is seen talking to a couple of her friends as she explains that all Doug wants is “boobies, booze, baloney, and b*** jobs.”
So how did Doug’s 4-B life philosophy pan out with Rachel? Not well.

Doug is currently listed as an “absconder from parole” on the Michigan Department of Corrections website. Court records indicate that Doug was flagged for tampering with an electronic monitoring device back in February, and a charge was filed in early March. The warrant was issued a few days later on March 8.
Doug’s troubles looked to have started well before he allegedly tampered with his monitoring device. Rachel filed for divorce from Doug on November 9 of last year. That filing eventually fizzled out and was dismissed in March.
However, Rachel re-filed for divorce just last week! According to court records, she officially filed for a dissolution of marriage for the second time on June 8. That case is still pending.
In addition to marital and legal problems, Doug also looks to be having some financial issues as well. A collection agency filed a suit against him on April 15. I do not know the details of the suit, including the amount involved.
I wanted to note that the address listed for Doug in the criminal filing mentioned above is the Kalamazoo address of a relative. (It is the house featured in the preview clips.) It is my understanding that Doug moved in with Rachel when he got out, so I am guessing that he changed his official address from Rachel to his relative’s house in Kalamazoo.
Doug does have an 11-year-old son, as mentioned in his WE tv bio. The bio suggests that the boy was living with Rachel prior to Doug’s release, but I do not know if that was the case. It’s unclear what the current custody situation is with his son.
I also don’t know what the custody status is with… (SPOILER ALERT?) Rachel’s son. I found a photo of Rachel with a young boy posted online for Mother’s Day in 2015. The comments commended Rachel for being a great mother, but that was all the information provided about the photo and the identity of the boy. I’m currently looking into both custody situations and I will update if I find out anything concrete.
UPDATES – Doug was arrested again and looks to be facing a rather lengthy prison sentence. Meanwhile, Rachel now has legal custody of Dougie and has confirmed that she has another son that she and the father chose not to allow on the show.
