PHOTO George Lopez arrested after passing out drunk in casino, issues statement
Comedian and TV star George Lopez was arrested after passing out on the floor of the Caesars Windsor Hotel and Casino in Windsor, Ontario, according to TMZ.
Just prior to the arrest for public intoxication, Lopez performed at the casino. A Caesars Windsor spokesperson told NYDN that Lopez is good to go for his scheduled show at the same venue tonight. No other comments were provided.
A constable with the Windsor Police acknowledged that they received a man into their custody from the Ontario Provincial Police at 11:52 p.m. local time but no name was officially given since no charges were filed.
Many years ago, Lopez was diagnosed with a condition that caused his kidneys to deteriorate. His now ex-wife Ann Serrano donated one of hers resulting in a successful 2005 transplant.
In a piece from People dated June 13, 2005, George is quoted as saying, “I have a total change of life. I’m done drinking alcohol and I maybe done smoking cigars, which I love. I’m not going to abuse my body. For the first time in my life, because of Ann, I’m going to live the healthy life that I should have been living.”
UPDATE: George just told TMZ, “Tied one on last night. Not feeling great this morning. I was trying to sleep it off, unfortunately, it was on the casino floor.”
