Did K. Michelle really quit Love & Hip Hop Hollywood before Season 5 even aired?

Did K. Michelle really quit Love & Hip Hop 2

We broke the story of K. Michelle’s switch from Love & Hip Hop Atlanta to Love & Hip Hop Hollywood months ago, when it looked like a fresh start was doing the longtime franchise star some good. A few months later, though, it seems like she might actually be done with the show — but did K. Michelle really quit Love & Hip Hop before her LHHH exploits even made it to the airwaves?

Rumors of K. Michelle on Love & Hip Hop Hollywood have been swirling for months

Earlier this year, K. Michelle began dropping some pretty heavy hints on her Twitter feed that she’d been brought in for the cast of LHHH Season 5, in order to replace the one-and-done Keyshia Cole. She never actually said which show she would be filming for, but K. Michelle’s move to southern California and LHHH’s shooting schedule made the connection fairly obvious.

“I start filming again tomorrow,” K. Michelle said, in late January. “I haven’t filmed in so long. I’ve been so quiet and private about my life so it’s a bit nerve wrecking right now. I’ve tried to lay low but now I’m back in the trenches. Nervous butterflies.”

And, at the time, it looked like a decent match. After all, K. Michelle is a Love & Hip Hop Atlanta OG cast member who also had her own spin-off for three full seasons. Love & Hip Hop Hollywood wanted a reality TV veteran to step in for Keyshia Cole; the producers were unlikely to do better — especially on short notice — than K. Michelle

Did K. Michelle really quit Love & Hip Hop Hollywood? Or is this just a publicity stunt?

Then, last week, the very first LHHH Season 5 teaser trailer dropped — and all hell broke loose. Hours after the reveal, K. Michelle took to Twitter to claim she was “done done” with the show. In fact, to hear her tell it, it sounded like K. Michelle would not be appearing on it at all, despite filming for several months.

Here are the three tweets in which K. Michelle claims she’s severed all ties with Love & Hip Hop Hollywood. They all went out within minutes of each other, in direct response to fan inquiries:

However, it’s still not clear exactly what K. Michelle is talking about here. Even if she’s fulfilled all her contractual obligations to the show and no longer wants to be a part of the cast, it’s hard to envision a scenario where she would be able to force VH1 to literally remove her from every scene she already filmed for LHHH Season 5. Doing so would inevitably force the network to cut scenes featuring any number of other cast members, and generally muck up any number of other plot lines.

Plus, K. Michelle is front and center in the aforementioned LHHH Season 5 teaser trailer. She’s the first cast member introduced, and what’s presumably her #1 plot line gets screamed out tabloid-style: “BOTCHED! K. Michelle’s Plastic Surgery Nightmare”

Here’s the trailer:

Whether or not she’s on LHHH, K. Michelle is feeling great post-booty surgery

We’ve still got a few weeks to go before the season premiere, and we haven’t even gotten a supertrailer yet. So there’s plenty of time to deconstruct this particular mystery.

But one thing’s for sure: K. Michelle’s booty is the smallest it’s been in years — and she’s feeling great. She recently took to Instagram to share another update on her reconstructive surgery journey, following the botched booty injections she suffered months ago:

Love & Hip Hop Hollywood Season 5 premieres Monday, July 23rd at 8 PM on VH1.
