Clint Eastwood goes all Dirty Harry in regards to gay marriage

Living bad ass legend Clint Eastwood is making the rounds promoting J. Edgar, a biopic about controversial F.B.I. chief J. Edgar Hoover. Eastwood directed the film that stars Leonardo DiCaprio as the lead. Hoover is long rumored to have been a closeted homosexual and that subject was brought up in a recent interview for the October edition of GQ magazine.

Clint’s been quiet in regards to the issue of gay marriage until now and his comment from the interview is classic Eastwood:

“These people who are making a big deal about gay marriage? I don’t give a fu*k about who wants to get married to anybody else! Why not?! We’re making a big deal out of things we shouldn’t be making a deal out of … Just give everybody the chance to have the life they want.”

I can’t imagine a more perfect campaign or t-shirt for anyone in support of gay marriage rights than an old school image of Clint and that “I don’t give a f’ who wants…” line. As a matter of fact here it is just to prove my point:

Eastwood is one of the few stalwart Republicans in Hollywood but he believes that his feelings in regards to this issue fall in line with his political beliefs:

“I was an Eisenhower Republican when I started out at 21, because he promised to get us out of the Korean War. And over the years, I realized there was a Republican philosophy that I liked. And then they lost it. And libertarians had more of it. Because what I really believe is, let’s spend a little more time leaving everybody alone.”

The film will be coming to a theater near you on November 9th. It’s written by Dustin Lance Black (Milk), an openly gay screenwriter who’s active in the marriage equality movement. Well Dustin have we got a shirt for you!
