Kim Kardashian hasn’t let a little thing like being pregnant get in her way of working out and keeping fit! The 32-year-old mom-to-be has been photographed several times departing the gym after a workout, including the picture above taken on December 22, when she was 11 weeks along.
Kim is making the necessary changes with the help of her personal trainer, Tracy Anderson. “She is helping me make the adjustments necessary to keep me feeling happy, healthy and most importantly create a workout plan that is safe for the baby,” Kim said on her blog.
While most of us common folk can’t afford personal trainers, we can glean a few tips from celebrity mommas who stayed fit while pregnant.
What Reese Witherspoon Did: While pregnant with baby Tennessee, Reese kept up with her already impressive fitness regimen. She was often spotted jogging around her neighborhood and was pictured playing tennis. She also had the benefit of a personal yoga trainer who likely helped her with some prenatal yoga, such as the cobbler’s pose and cat/cow stretch.
What You Can Do: Many yoga studios offer prenatal group classes. If you haven’t practiced yoga before, try visiting a few local studios to sample classes.
What Jessica Alba Did: Before giving birth in mid-2011 to her second daughter, Jessica made a few modifications to her typically tough fitness routine. With the help of her trainer, Jessica concentrated on strength and balance exercises, such as the plank. She also indulged in occasional cravings, but made sure to also include fruits and vegetables with her diet.
What You Can Do: If you are a member of a gym, consult with a trainer for pregnancy-perfect workouts. Also consider splurging on one or two personal training sessions. Even if you can’t commit to a long-term trainer, you can pick up some tips to apply to your own workouts.
What Jennifer Garner Did: Just months after giving birth to baby No. 3, Jennifer has done an impressive job of slimming down. Like most stars, Jennifer has the help of a personal trainer, but she also admits to some secret weapons: her two older daughters!
“We have tiny little weights for them, and they’ll come in and lift them over their heads,” Jennifer’s trainer said during an interview with People.
What You Can Do: Enlist the help of friends and family. Start a walking group with some women from your Lamaze class. Also consider registering for a jogging stroller to help with post-pregnancy workouts.
What Kristen Bell Does: As a first-time mom-to-be, Kristen stays fit by eating well. She recently tweeted a picture of a smoothie that included kale, spinach, part of an apple, banana, blueberries, clementines, almond milk and protein powder.
What You Can Do: Indulge in some cravings, but also make an effort to include extra fruits and vegetables. Nutrient-packed smoothies like the one Kristen made are perfect!
