Why did Kim Kardashian meet with Donald Trump?

Kim Kardashian met with President Donald Trump today and she may have broken the Internet yet again. It’s been tough few days to break the Internet, considering everything going on with Roseanne, but the above photo may have sealed the deal. While everyone may be distracted by the above image and concept of the two meeting together, the reason why Kim K went to Washington is actually to shed light and possible spur some change about a very important issue.

Kim Kardashian West’s pet cause is prison reform, specially over drug-related charges. She hopes to persuade the Trump administration to make major changes about drug-offense related sentencing. She’s also bargaining for a pardon for Alice Marie Johnson, a grandmother who’s spent two decades of her life in prison over a first-time drug trafficking charge.

Today is Alice’s birthday, so petitioning for her pardon was the ultimate present the high profile reality star could give to her. Trump seemed pleased with their conversation, calling it a “great meeting.”
