The Rob Kardashian health question is one that’s puzzled Keeping Up With The Kardashians fans for weeks, ever since news broke regarding Rob’s fall at home and alleged diabetes diagnosis. Now, a host of potential misinformation from Rob’s mother and sisters has onlookers wondering exactly what the Rob Kardashian health issue is–and when we can expect to hear something definite about it.

It was a report about Kris Jenner considering putting Rob into a psychiatric hospital “for his own good” that got fans sitting up straight in their seats earlier this week. According to that particular Rob Kardashian health update, Rob’s complete refusal to “be reasonable” about his weight problems left his mother no choice but to take away his authority over himself and hand it to medical professionals. Shortly after, Khloe and Kim Kardashian were said to intervene, and to have talked Kris off of the psych ward ledge and onto the firmer, stabler ground of gastric bypass surgery.

It’s not immediately clear, though, how dire the matter is. After all, it was only a few months ago that Rob returned to the world of social media, and impressed many observers with his apparent weight loss:

And it’s perhaps worth pointing out that Rob’s most recent social media updates–a trio of Instagram photos from just yesterday–are largely irreverent and silly, and hardly sound like the work of someone who requires commitment:

Nonetheless, the Rob Kardashian health matter continues to vex the Kardashian family, who allegedly “fear the worst” when it comes to the 28-year-old sock tycoon. Diabetes has “not been a wake-up call” for Rob, say sources close to both he and his family; he’s apparently “still eating crap and not seriously doing anything to lose weight.”

In order to combat his non-efforts, Kim Kardashian is said to have hired a personal chef for her brother.

Meanwhile, momager Kris has taken over the public face of the issue, and apparently refuses to address any speculation, in order to present a calm front. During a Thurdday Q&A at which Rob came up, Kris said her son is “still part of [Keeping Up With The Kardashians],” and that his absence, more than anything else, was due to a desire to just kick back.

“He’s had a year,” explained Kris, “where he kind of wanted to chill. He hasn’t been feeling well and we didn’t know why. He was just diagnosed with diabetes, so we’re taking care of that. But he’s always around. I see Rob every day.”

When it came to questions about Rob’s involvement with the family going forward, Kris was equally controlled. “I think Rob enjoys all the family stuff we do,” she said. “He loves his business, he has a sock line and his stuff. But I think that it was just the perfect time for him to take like a little hiatus….It’s not that he doesn’t want to be on the show, it’s just he wasn’t feeling good.”
