Project Runway’s Tim Gunn is arguably the most likable star in the history of reality television. If you had a poll I bet he’d win and part of what fires the adoration from his fans is how real he comes across and how candid he often is.
Tim made an appearance on ABC’s daytime lifestyle show, “The Revolution,” on Tuesday. When the subject turned to jump starting a sex life Gunn went next level candid with a reveal about his own long dry spell.
Here is the clip:
“I will share with all of you … I haven’t had sex in 29 years. Do I feel like less of a person for it? No, not even remotely.” “I’m a perfectly happy, fulfilled individual. I have feelings. It’s not as though I am some barren forest.”
The fashion conscious celeb got emotional when he was asked to explain why it had been so long.
“I was in a very intense relationship for a long time and my partner ended it, saying quite frankly that he was impatient with my sexual performance … It was at the cusp of AIDS, and I think a lot of people simply retreated because they were concerned about their health. I certainly was. I’m happy to be healthy and alive, quite frankly.”
That’s quite a personal story that Gunn shared but it isn’t too shocking because he’s usually fearless when it comes to discussing matters of the heart.
We’re talking about almost 3 decades for Tim, that would be around 1983… I applaud his openness and it must have been difficult sharing this with Ty Pennington staring at you with a very serious face the whole time.
I love how one of the panelists said he must have suitors lined up outside his door. As always, Tim was gracious and humble in his gratitude.
