At the time of the tour Young wasn’t backing any particular album and was in one of his ongoing wars with a record label, at this point in his career it was Geffen for his exploration of more country themed concepts.  I’m guessing his ’82 vocoder laced experiment Trans was just fine?

Neil is a wonderfully quirky dude on top of being an all-time-great.  Here’s a video he put together to discuss some of the finer points of his upcoming release.  There is also some pretty amazing footage from that tour peppered in.  Some of this video will be included on the blu-ray version of the release:

This tour precluded one of my personal favorite Neil releases, 1985’s Old Ways that featured Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings among many other stand out country music artists.  I’m looking forward to this one but that’s almost always the case whenever Neil has a new release.
