TEEN MOM Ryan Edwards enters rehab for 5-6 months, expected to miss birth of his son REPORT
We have some sad but good Teen Mom OG news to report. Maci McKinney’s ex Ryan Edwards has reportedly checked himself into a rehabilitation facility for an extended stay.
Radar Online has a source close to Ryan and his pregnant wife Mackenzie who says that the troubled 30-year-old reality star “entered rehab in Alabama about a month ago” and “isn’t supposed to be out until February or March.” The source adds that Mackenzie has opted out of staying in the couple’s lake house for the remainder of her pregnancy, and has moved back in with her parents for now.
Mackenzie recently attended an event in Chattanooga with her good friend and wedding photographer Christan C. George, but Ryan was not with her. She reportedly responded to fans asking about his whereabouts by telling them Ryan was “home.”
Radar reached out to Mackenzie and Ryan’s attorney, but got no response. Ryan’s father, Larry Edwards, did respond — but only to say “You know I can’t comment on that” when asked about the site of Ryan’s reported rehab.
Larry repeated his response when asked if Ryan was going to miss the birth of his son Jagger, who is due later this month.
The rehab stint will be the second for Ryan, who spent less than a month in treatment for his drug addiction issues after a court mandated sentence stemming from Ryan’s heroin possession arrest in 2017.
Maci McKinney has been very vocal with her concerns that Ryan’s drug use has continued. And she was reportedly the person who insisted MTV stop filming Ryan for the show because of it. (According to sources, Maci didn’t want their son Bentley to have to continue to watch his dad’s addiction struggles play out on television.)
It’s unknown if Ryan’s extended stay in rehab is part of a deal that would allow him and Mackenzie to return to the show. Mackenzie has had some very harsh things to say about MTV, and it’s unclear if she even would return at this point. Plus, she recently launched her new career as a wedding planner!
We will continue to monitor this story and will certainly update our readers if we receive any more information or further confirmation about Ryan’s rehab stay.
