LHHATL Stevie J loses $1.3 million child support appeal: Will he go to jail over charges?
It’s been a rough few weeks for Stevie J. The Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star, who’s currently being investigated by VH1 after allegedly assaulting Erica Mena at the Season 7 reunion, lost his appeal in the $1.3 million child support legal battle that’s been dogging him for years.
The Stevie J legal trouble stems from his seven-figure child support debt
Bossip reports that Stevie lost his most recent appeal after being “found guilty of knowingly withholding child support payments for his son and daughter over 18 years.”
Though Stevie had already agreed — in February of 2017 — to repay the $1.3 million he owed, he simultaneously appealed the court’s decision because he found it “unfair.” The decision caused Stevie’s first lawyer to quit the case; he infamously said that Stevie’s appeal “[didn’t] have a chance in hell” of success.
According to court documents, Stevie, now representing himself, “let deadline after deadline pass on the case without any action.” Thus, the judge dismissed his appeal. (It’s worth pointing out that the threat of jail time had already passed, so it’s possible Stevie simply decided that continuing the appeal wasn’t worth his time.)
Stevie reportedly risks being fired from Love & Hip Hop Atlanta over his alleged assault
The more serious current issue for Stevie is his alleged assault of fellow LHHATL cast member Erica Mena during the Season 7 reunion taping last week. Stevie is said to have attacked Erica after she slapped him in retaliation for calling Erica’s son King Conde a “f*ggot.”
After that, security apparently escorted Stevie out of the building, and Stevie was banned from appearing at any LHHATL-affiliated events.
In addition, Erica took to Instagram to call Stevie a “b!tch” who “likes to fight girls.” She quickly deleted the post, but not before it was grabbed by several fan sites:
The man himself has yet to comment on any of the current Stevie J legal trouble. But he did just take to Twitter to say he’s on the market for a serious relationship:
Ready for a wife.
