Hollywood producer Bruce Beresford-Redman and his wife Monica Beresford-Redman were vacationing in Cancun, Mexico earlier this week when Monica, 42, went out shopping Monday evening and did not return. Bruce Beresford-Redman reported his wife missing to authorities and a search began with the help of Mexican authorites.
Monica’s body was found Thursday in a sewer at the luxurious Moon Palace Hotel where the couple had been staying.
Since her disappearance some startling facts have begun to emerge, which seem to suggest Bruce may have been involved in his wife’s death. A family friend tells CNN that Monica “had cleaned out the couple’s bank account and traveled to Hawaii with her children last week after discovering her husband was having an affair.”
CNN goes on to report, “Bruce Beresford-Redman called his wife and persuaded her to meet him in Cancun to reconcile their differences, the friend said. She arrived in Cancun this week, the friend said.”
According to TheChronicleHerald.CA a Mexican official has stated Bruce Beresford-Redman has been detained and is currently a suspect: “A witness at the hotel saw the couple arguing Sunday, and Bruce Beresford-Redman has been detained as a suspect, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media about the case.”
When Monica first turned up missing her sister Carla Burgos began speaking to the media, initially saying that she did not believe her brother-in-law could have committed such a heinous act, but after learning more about the particulars in the case she told Radar Online she was sure Bruce had done it: “I’m sure now. There were witnesses who heard someone screaming and calling for help. [Bruce] also has scratches on his arm.”
This is such a horribly tragic story! Monica Burgos Beresford-Redman was a well-respected and much-adored mother of two and owner of Zabumba, a Brazilian bar and restaurant in Venice, California. (Monica was originally from Brazil.)
