Judge denies Amanda Bynes’ parents’ request for conservatorship
In a private hearing this morning, a California judge temporarily denied Amanda Bynes’ mom, Lynn Bynes, conservatorship over her daughter. Amanda’s father, Rick Bynes, was not included on the paperwork for the original request, but he was present during today’s hearing. They reportedly argued that Amanda is displaying symptoms of schizophrenic and cannot care for herself.
The judge’s decision will be reevaluated during another hearing on August 9.
According to TMZ, the Ventura County Superior Court Judge Glen M. Reiser opted to delay the ruling because Amanda is supposed to stay in the psych ward for another two weeks.
During that period, Reiser wants to talk with Amanda, get her doctors’ suggestions for treatment and read over the police report from the driveway bonfire.
“I need to have a dialogue with [the actress] to gauge the propriety of a conservatorship to move forward,” Reiser said. “There are issues of liberty and property.”
But, if it’s up to Amanda, none of that is going to happen. She’s supposedly appearing before another judge this afternoon to ask for her previously extended 5150 hold to be reversed… And let her go.
That hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. PST.
