(After reading this article, be sure to check out our followup piece that covers the public Facebook confrontation that may have been the spark that ignited Seath’s murder.)

Wow. Where do we begin with this one?

We can start with the facts of the case. As reported by, a 15-year-old Summerfield, Florida, boy named Seath Tyler Jackson was murdered on the evening of Sunday, April 17th, 2011. He was lured to a home on 13896 S.E. 53rd Ave. in Summerfield, where he was savagely beaten, shot several times, and then carried to a backyard fire pit where he was burned to ashes. Here is a picture of Seath:

According to the statement from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the alleged assailants then placed his ashes into several paint buckets and then disposed of in the depths of a submerged rock quarry.

Since that horrific event on Sunday, six people have been arrested for the crime, including two minors and a stepfather of two of the alleged killers. Of the crime, Marion County Sheriff Maj. David Sperring said, “It was not a spontaneous crime, but a well-thought-out and orchestrated murder committed by young people.”

So who are these people arrested for killing Seath Jackson?

• Amber Wright, 15, ex-girlfriend of Seath Jackson, sister of Kyle Hooper

• Charlie Kay Ely, 18, female who admitted to helping Amber lure Seath to the 53rd Ave. address

Haven is currently out on bond after posting $10,000 bail. Bargo is set to make his first appearance in a Marion County courtroom this morning (Thursday). He was last seen making an obscene gesture at a reporter as he was led into booking.

In a very detailed article at, more details have emerged about the animalistic killing of Seath Jackson. After the boy’s parents reported him missing and a possible runaway on Monday, detectives got their first hint that something terrible had occurred when Kyle Hooper’s mother called to inform them he had witnessed the killing. As the story developed after detectives worked their way back to the night of the killing, they would find out that Kyle Hooper allegedly did far more than merely witness the crime:

According to sheriff’s officials, Hooper told them that he, Bargo, Ely, Wright (Hooper’s sister) and Soto were at Ely’s house on Sunday, and that Bargo talked about his hatred for Jackson.

The conversation turned to plotting, officials said. The plan, Hooper told authorities, was for the two girls — Wright and Ely — to lure Jackson to the home.

During an interview Wednesday with the Star-Banner, an emotional Ely said that when Jackson entered the home, Hooper “hit him in the head with a stick.”

Ely said she ran to her room and stayed there. She heard a couple of gunshots, followed by more gunshots.

Ely told the Star-Banner that Bargo’s anger toward Jackson stemmed from Jackson having struck Wright.

“He (Bargo) looks up to her as a sister,” Ely said.

Ely said that since Bargo moved from Michigan to Ocala three years ago, he, Wright and Hooper “have been good friends, and he has a bond with them.”

Investigators said Hooper told a similar story, that he and Soto struck Jackson in the head with wooden objects and that Bargo shot the teen multiple times.

When Jackson tried to flee, Soto restrained him, authorities said Hooper told them. As Soto held Jackson down, Bargo continued to shoot him, according to the reports.

Jackson’s body was dragged into a bathtub, where Bargo broke the victim’s kneecaps with some type of object, authorities said. Jackson was then hog-tied and placed in a sleeping bag, which was carried into the backyard and burned in a fire pit, the reports said.

There are many more details in the article, including how Amber and Kyle’s stepfather came onto the scene to help them clean up and hide Seath Jackson’s ashes, and how Bargo broke the boy’s knees, the better to stuff him into a sleeping bag for disposal.

The hideousness of this crime is one thing. The fact that so many young people, both male and female, were allegedly involved is another. And the fact that a grown man – a stepparent to two of the alleged killers – helped hide the crime, adds another disgusting dimension.

So what else can be said about this crime that has everybody talking? Turns out there’s plenty more. Starcasm will have more details inside the crime in a followup article.

    • AntDX316

all because he broke 1 girls heart… at 15!! wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Mike

James Haven is NOT the step Father of Mike Bargo. He is the Step Father to Hooper and Ely

    • Chris Gaines

Thank you for the correction, Mike. I’ve edited the article to reflect that.

A guy named Haven is stepfather to a girl named Wright and a boy named Hooper. Interesting. And it was Hooper’s mom who initially called the cops. Was she aware she was also implicating her husband?

      • Mike

I know the families rather well as I live in the same neiborhood and have known the Bargo’s for a long time

        • James

          Must be a nice place………………

          • sandy

Summerfield is a VERY NICE place. Until you get little punks like that living there. I grew up there when the trailer park was afield. I hope they all get what they deserve. Death (hopefully painful and slow)! Dont start crying for forgiveness now Ely its to late for that. I guess Seath cant ask for that anymore, can he?!

Look, the real problem frankly has to do with rap and hip hop culture and the surbanization and mainstreaming of ghetto and thug culture. Girls are now as violent, sexualized and callous as the worst boys. This wasn’t the case when Black Sabbath, Yes and Deep Purple were what the “cool” kids listened to. Music, and I’m loathe to call rap “music” has become base and cheap and the kids who now idolize thugs and gangsters are following it in a race to the bottom. Bring back good old rock, let rap and hip hop follow disco into the fad dumpster and watch our kids become far less crass and violent. Lyrics about swords and sorcery are far preferable to profanity-laden rants and tirades set to artificial “beats” that a monkey could program on their Casio or computer.

The breakup of a relationship is something almost everyone goes through and is able to navigate without violence. This is about a group of punks who want to be “street” and live a rap-inspired lifestyle who clearly don’t take school seriously and to whom life is cheap and insults are combatted by bullets. Without a doubt these punks speak in a patois of rap lingo and black inflection and have taken a culture utterly foreign to them to heart… with deadly consequences.

All very good points, but I would add something else to the mix — the parents of these miscreants are totally absent from their lives, by choice, it would seem. I mean, three of the alleged perps were teens living together in a trailer home. Who at that age is living on their own without parental supervision, unless the parents have made a conscious choice to basically leave these punks to their own devices, unsupervised, without putting any effort or time into keeping an eye on them. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree in this case. All of the parents should have been sterilized a long time ago.

So, lazy and indifferent parenting + hip-hop wannabe macho punks = predictable tragedy.

          • Swamp Dawg

The absence of the parents is absolutely a factor and is really where it all began. If the parents were involved from day one there’s a great chance this never would’ve happened.
But they weren’t and instead you get kids who look up to rappers and who think the epitome of cool is black, criminal gangsterism.

Look at the photo of Bargo taken in the mirror. He’s a white kid from the ‘burbs, yet he’s trying desperately to fashion himself into some hip-hop gangsta, what with the “Detroit” tattoo on his chest, backwards baseball cap, low-hanging drawers, stupid piercings, etc.

This is the modern American teenager — all about image and posturing, no sense of his/her own true identity, looking to rappers and pop culture for guidance on how to dress, act, etc. etc.

So much of Bargo’s posturing and false bravado reminds me of another overpriviliged white kid trying to act “gangsta” — the notorious Jesse James Hollywood. There was a video of Hollywood, taken in his California home during a party, at which he was screaming at the camera, acting like some idiotic white homeboy.

We are truly becoming a nation of idiots.

    I mean “Amber”.

The school system should have a standard course to show what happens to teenagers that commit crimes like this. A deterrent maybe?
