Has Lamar Odom died? The shocking rumor that Lamar was near death had fans doing double-takes earlier this week. According to that story, which had its root in a Life & Style article, Lamar had fallen victim to drug use once more, and suffered a relapse which severely damaged his internal organs. He was said to have approximately three months to live, and Khloe Kardashian, Lamar’s estranged wife, was reportedly preparing for the end.
Fortunately, it looks like a few days’ distance might have cleared the air somewhat. Confusion about the state of Lamar Odom’s health still holds sway, as a spate of counter-rumors has made its way across the internet, but most of those rumors present good news–some of it backed up by what appear to be credible sources. In probably the best news of all, Us is reporting that Lamar has gotten sober, sought out his friends for help and counsel, and is “making great strides” in an attempt at staying clean. Their source for the story? None other than Lamar’s trainer himself, Mr. Oneil Pryce, who had positive news to share:
From what I know [he’s sober], because right now he is focused and that is the state I have him in right now. I have been letting him know that [this] is going to be a rough road, a hard road. And one thing he has to do is make sure that the partying, the drinking, all of that stuff, is going to be tough on his body. So right now, he has been drinking his water, staying low key and pretty much staying out of sight of everybody else, all of the negative stuff.
Pryce, the owner of East Setauket NY’s Real Deal Fitness Gym, reiterated that he is “taking things slow” with Lamar, and focusing on “keeping his mental state high.”
At the same time, Khloe finds herself under fire due to reports that she recently removed Lamar from the health insurance plan the two once shared. According to an Inquisitr article on the topic, Khloe actually took the step weeks ago, after finding a crack pipe in Odom’s house. Khloe’s move did not sit well with Liza Morales, Odom’s ex and the mother of his children; she apparently fought Khloe on the move, but “Khloe’s mindset is that she’s done everything she could to help Lamar.”
