Olympic swimmer and E! Reality star Ryan Lochte, who was nominated as “America’s Sexiest Douchebag” by Jezebel last year, just wants to settle down with the “one.” Why can’t he find her?
Ryan discussed his desire to settle down with Chelsea Handler, and she nailed when she said he sounds like an episode of The Bachelor. He does seem sincere, but a little naive:
Ryan: “I’ve done the whole dating thing, the college thing, and I’ve over it. I’m at that point in my life that i do want to settle down. I want ot find that one that I want to spend the rest of my life with and share, give my heart to someone. I haven’t found it yet.’
Chelsea: “Well it sounds like you’re tryin’ to get on The Bachelor.”
Ryan: “No. On The Bachelor you have to choose, and I don’t want to have to choose. I just want it to come natural.’
Chelsea bursts out laughing (laughing during a Ryan Lochte interview is hard to avoid): “Well you are an inspiration! I could just sit here and talk to you forever.”
Ryan opened up to In Touch about how tough it is for him to find someone to trust even though there are women constantly throwing themselves at him. “I’m not going to lie, I get hit on everywhere I go. If I go to the grocery store, it’ll happen there. I’ve gotten used to that . . . It’s hard to find someone I can trust. I don’t know if they’re just after my fame and money or if they like me for who I really am.”
Ryan also says he gets dumped all the time, usually because the girl cheated on him. “The girls’ excuses are always, ‘I was afraid this was too good to be true, so I had to cheat on you becausee I thought you’d do that to me.’ It hurts. I honestly don’t want to go through that pain again.”
Even though he’s been hurt, he’s still looking for the girl out there for him so they can settle down and have babies. The type of girl he wants? “A girl that’s fun, a girl who I can have a conversation with. She has to be outgoing, but classy and sweet. She also has to be able to hold her own. I don’t want a girl relying on the guy for everything. If she can make me smile and laugh, she’s got me sold.”
On his reality show, Ryan has a sort-of British girlfriend named Jaimee, who he can’t see himself being with because of the distance issues. She visits for just a few days on the third episode of the show, and he makes her pizza, saying it was his first time ever making pizza, and calling up the local pizza parlor to ask how long to bake it.
The Daily Mail reported that although on the show it seems like Ryan (28) and Jaimee Hollier (23) are hardly serious, they’ve actually been together for four years now after meeting in Vegas. She works in the U.K. as a Fossil watches junior sales manager.
