Why did Nicki Minaj quit social media?
The Nicki Minaj social media absence is starting to alarm many of Minaj’s fans, who are used to her frequent Instagram and Twitter updates. Minaj has been away from internet for a full week–ever since controversy erupted over a Halloween video she shared in which she appeared to make fun of a crippled partygoer. Now, many of her fans are asking: Where is Nicki Minaj–and why did she take the week off?
Minaj caused a bit of an uproar last week, after posting a video in which she appeared to shout “Walk!” at a wheelchair-bound Halloween partier. Just before that, Minaj had again been in the news for her use of social media, thanks to the commentary she offered on the also-controversial #PillCosby Halloween costume. Since the “Walk!” video erupted, though, Minaj has been almost completely silent. She’s offered no Instagram updates in a week, and no new tweets since November second–this from a woman who retweets followers and shares her own thoughts so often that “Nicki Minaj social media” is often a trending topic in entertainment news.
Of course, Minaj’s response to the wheelchair controversy didn’t help matters…

…but a source allegedly close to the star has offered a comment on the Nicki Minaj social media blackout. “After constantly being on the road,” the source said, “and always working, sometime[s] you need to take some time off to work on your personal life. It has been a while since [Nicki took] some time off to spend with her family, and she is also doing some recording.”
Regardless of the reason, Minaj’s fans appear to be getting antsy.

Of course, even when Minaj does return from her social media hiatus, we may never know the reason why she left. But, if she does tell, it’s likely that Twitter will be the first place to look.
