Simon Cowell named in divorce papers by his pregnant mistress’ husband

As we were surprised to learn yesterday, Simon Cowell is expecting a child with socialite Lauren Silverman, who is currently married. Now it seems that news came as an even bigger shock to Lauren’s current husband, Andrew Silverman.

“It is an unbelievable story of betrayal. It is a sad story and a tragic story,” Andrew’s brother, Alexander Silverman, told The New York Post.

Andrew was reportedly so unaware of the affair that he recently gifted the woman he believed to be his loving, devoted wife with a 10-karat diamond ring.

“The suggestion that she was an estranged wife who fell into another man’s arms is not the case,” one of Andrew’s friends said of Lauren, who lived with her husband and son in New York City until moving to the coast for a summer vacation.

Once Andrew learned of the illicit relationship between his wife and friend of seven years, he opted to name Simon as a co-respondent in divorce papers, which were filed two weeks ago in Manhattan. That unusual move is being called a “very nasty” attempt to embarrass Lauren and Simon.

“It’s really a signal to the spouse who cheated that the wronged spouse is very angry and that it’s going to be a very nasty, scorched-earth, high-profile litigation,” divorce attorney Martha Cohen Stine told The New York Post.

Now that he’s been named in official litigation, Simon may be forced to testify. If he is called to the witness stand, Simon would likely have to reveal details of the affair as well as his personal net worth.

“Andrew’s team are likely to be saying that when you look at Lauren’s needs, you have to take into account that Simon will be looking after her,” divorce lawyer Vanessa Lloyd Platt told The Daily Mail.

Although the revelation seems to be tearing Andrew Silverman apart, Lauren is reportedly “overjoyed” with the pregnancy.

“The pregnancy was by design,” a friend snidely told The New York Post.
