Sherri Shepherd’s divorce is an absolute mess, and it’s getting worse. The former The View co-host and now estranged husband Lamar Sally were expecting a child via surrogate when they split and now Sherri wants nothing to do with the baby.
According to TMZ, Sherri has no biological connection to the unborn child because an egg donor was used, and she now feels that her ex used the surrogate baby as a means to get child support from her. She believes he intentionally set up this scheme knowing full well he would file for divorce.
She hopes a judge will rule that she has no parental rights to the baby by the end of the month. When she initially filed for divorce on May 2 she asked for full custody of the surrogate child.
She recently opened up about her divorce troubles to US Weekly at an event. “When you know you’ve made the wrong choice in a guy you look, you do some introspective work, and you try not to make the same mistake,” she said. “If you do, get back up, dust your feet off, and start walking and moving forward.”
