If you were an Arkansan looking to enjoy some Independence Day pyrotechnics yesterday then you may have been wasting your time heading to Little Rock, Fayetteville or Hot Springs because it looks like the best 4th of July fireworks display was in Duggarville as newlyweds Derick Duggar and Jill Duggar (I suppose I need to officially start writing Jill Dillard) proved their days of sidehugs are over as they posed lip locking in appropriately patriotic red, white and blue attire.
You know you’re in love when you abandon a piece of juicy watermelon on a summer day in the South just for a kiss!
Jill posted the above photo on instagram and enthusiastically captioned it, “Happy Independence Day! So grateful for our Godly founding fathers!” She added the hashtags: #4thofjuly #jilldillard #derickdillard #independenceday #19kidsandcounting
And just in case the smooching fireworks weren’t enough, Jill also had a dazzling sparkler to show off in the form of her wedding and engagements rings! (Oh, and Derick’s too for those Duggar fans into dude bling.)
Oddly, Jill’s caption for the photo didn’t seem to care as much about the wedding bling as it did the footwear. “Chacos for the 4th!” she wrote. The jewelry did get some props in her list of hashtags however: #weddingrings #chacos #jilldillard #derickdillard #independenceday
Derick appeared to be practicing up for potential 4th of July husbandry (perhaps the wrong word to use?) on Tuesday as he was snapped by Jill getting his grill on:
Jill gushed: “My sweet husband grilling our dinner yesterday. #imsoinlove #derickdillard #jilldillard #19kidsandcounting” Can you say “Derick Grillard?”
And before he was getting his grill on, Derick was getting his Jill on… on him! In a lawn chair! Check out the photo posted by future brother-in-law (you know it’s just a matter of time!) Ben Seewald on Sunday:
I told you those sidehugs are a thing of the past! 😉
In between the big Jill grill and the romantic 4th of July fireworks, Jill, Derick and most of the Duggar family enjoyed the Rodeo of the Ozarks Parade where they also took time to show their support for Arkansas gubernatorial candidate Asa Hutchinson:
All in all it seemed like one heckuva purely American 4th of July week for Jill, Derick and the rest of the Duggars! In honor of their happiness and our country’s birthday, I put together this little graphic with what most 19 Kids and Counting fans assume will be the next Duggar couple to head down the aisle:
