SARPER GÜVEN STATEMENT CONFIRMING SPLIT
Yes guys, as many of you can probably imagine, our fairytale love story has come to an end. 💔
It started four years ago in Turkey, and unfortunately, this chapter of our lives has now ended.
I’m really upset even writing this because I still love the SHEKINAH I met in Turkey. She was the first real love I’ve ever had in my life, and that’s exactly why this still hurts.
But there is one thing I’m sure about: we simply couldn’t make it work anymore.
I did my best. I believe she probably did her best too. But sometimes, even you do your best, simply not enough!
I don’t want to attack her or speak badly about her online, regardless of what has been said about me, talked sh*t about me, and tried to drag me down..: Whatever happened between us happened, and I don’t want to turn four years of memories into an online war.
But I do want to make one thing clear. Despite what she has claimed, I never chose fame or money over her. I wish we could have found peace together. I wish I could have shared everything I have with her and built the simple life we once imagined.
To make it clear, we have been separated for at least eight months since the beginning of 2026, and neither of us sees ourselves as married anymore. In my heart and in my mind, I am SINGLE now.
Until I reached that point, I was 100% loyal to her. But when I finally took off my ring and, as painful as it was, took her out of that place in my heart, I started living my life as a SINGLE person.
I know some of you will be upset. Some of you believed in us and supported our relationship from the beginning. But this is life, guys. We are not the first couple going separate ways.
When I see our old pictures or watch our clips on TV, it still hurts. Because the SHEKINAH I knew during those first two years, before coming to the U.S., will always have an irreplaceable place in my memories.
There was real love there. There were real memories. And despite how it ended, I will never pretend those years meant nothing to me.
I truly wish her the best in her life.
Sometimes a fairytale doesn’t have the ending you expected.
SHEKINAH GARNER STATEMENT CONFIRMING SPLIT
I’m writing this because I feel like I need to tell my side of the story, and I chose not to do that at the tell-all because my mental health is more valuable than the opinions of the other cast. I can’t even articulate myself properly right now because my thoughts and feelings are so jumbled, but if you care to know my side, bear with me plz… I’m gonna try to give that now.
I was reaching out to Sarper for weeks leading up to the tell-all it in an attempt to feel even a little bit of a connection, because I didn’t want to feel like if I went I wouldn’t be completely ganged up on by the cast and also him, but he chose to ice me out completely and this led to him having chance to fully control the narrative at the tell-all.
In light of today’s post made my Sarper I’d like to say that I don’t like having him speak on my behalf and say that “neither of us sees ourselves as married anymore, because that isn’t how I feel. I still see myself as married because I am. I never really got the chance to be the soft, nurturing wife who felt protected and treasured by her husband… but I still took being his wife seriously.
I’m fully aware that he has chosen the single life, and even writing those words hurts because it takes me back to the beginning of our journey, when we chose to share our love story publicly.
We made a promise then that no matter what happened between us, we would never go on the show The Single Life. That’s a promise I intend to keep along with all of the others I made.
I also made a promise on my wedding day to be faithful to my husband, and I have been.
Not because I feel like he deserves that loyalty, and not because every promise he made to me was kept in return, but because I made that promise. My word means something to me.
I want to be able to look at myself when all of this is over and know that even when I was hurt, angry, humiliated and heartbroken, I didn’t abandon my own integrity because someone else abandoned theirs.
He says he loved the Shekinah in Turkey but not the Shekinah in the U.S., and I actually understand part because I also loved the version of myself I got to be in Turkey. He was so gentle with me there. He was loving, adoring, playful, lighthearted and thoughtful, and that softness brought out the softness in me too. But I was also completely under his care. I couldn’t drive. I couldn’t do even the smallest things outside our home without his help. I didn’t speak the language, I didn’t have family or friends around me… I had almost no autonomy. He was in complete control of our world- or rather / was in his world. My needs were small and his power was big. I think that’s why he claims to have liked me better there- it was the dynamic he loved.
When he came to the U.S., I was returning to real life. I was a mom, I was working to earn a living, I had clients, bills, responsibilities and a home to provide for. I was trying to help him understand how things worked here, but he hated being told that anything was different in the U.S. than in Turkey. He could legally drive, but one day he went through a stop sign and I said, “In the U.S. you can get a ticket for that.” After that, he refused to ever drive again. So I drove him everywhere.
I know a lot of people think I went to his shows because I wanted to “keep an eye on him,” and I can be honest enough to admit that the untrusting part of me wanted to limit the opportunity for infidelity. But that wasn’t the real reason I was there every night. He wanted me there. He insisted that I sit in the audience where he could see me. No matter what had happened between us that day, what fight we had just had, or whether I had been crying five minutes before he walked on stage, I was expected to sit there where he could see me and laugh along at jokes about me and our marriage because he needed me to laugh at them so others felt like it was ok for them to laugh too. And I did, because I wanted to see him succeed. And I didn’t do those things begrudgingly. That’s what makes this hurt so much. I did them because I loved him and I believed in him. / was genuinely so proud of him.
Watching him find something he loved and watching people respond to him was amazing. I felt lucky to be such a big part of helping him build it.
The painful irony is that while I watched this bright, charming, charismatic version of him grow in front of the world, I was getting a very different version of him behind closed doors. In hotels he would stay cooped up in the dark all day, doom-scrolling on his phone, easily irritated with me, impatient, cold and uninterested in talking or spending any time together outside of having sex.
I started spending most of my days with his booking agent, Vanessa, who became a close friend. Eventually I even started staying in her hotel rooms because being alone with my own husband had become so unbearable. The pressure to be the perfect “flawless” object was too much and my emotions were an inconvenience to him. He had zero patience with me during the day, and then every night I would watch him walk onto that stage and suddenly come alive. He would be warm, funny, charming, charismatic and completely engaged with the fans. I wondered why complete strangers were getting the version of my husband that I was desperately wanted too.
I can’t imagine taking my marriage, something I saw as sacred, and making it the punchline of a comedy routine. The laughs of strangers would never be more important to me than protecting the dignity of the person I married. To watch my husband incite crowds of strangers all over the country to laugh at my expense in the name of “comedy” has hurt me on a level I didn’t know existed. It has also forced me to face something I spent a very long time making excuses for. I often felt like an object to him, and I feel so stupid now for convincing myself that it was a language barrier, cultural difference pr “just comedy”. I kept finding softer explanations because the truth was too painful to accept. The fact was it felt degrading to me, he knew that and he chose to do it anyways. I asked was that few words be whispered before or after the show reassuring me that he did love me, did find me beautiful, did love being married to me. He couldn’t bring himself to do this simple request, so the hurt grew.
Last November he kicked Vanessa and me off his tour. So many things happened that were incredibly hurtful, but I don’t need to list every one of them here. I talk to a therapist every week about those things, and I’m still trying to process with my mind what my heart cannot seem to understand. I went back to LA after that, and lived very much alone- sometimes only seeing him for a couple days out of the month. I was very lonely, I felt abandoned. I finally left that painful reminder of his absence by moving to Miami to start a fresh new chapter with my daughter who was starting collage there.
I still wanted to fight for us, and we continued talking on and off and he came to see me a few times in Miami. I’d hear things about him being on dating apps, being seen with girls, all while I had him in my phone asking to meet up with me, and I stupidly allowed it because this is my husband. I felt increasingly like my marriage had become more like a situationship than anything else.
I thought marriage meant that when things became difficult, you fought harder for each other, not that you started looking for the next opportunity, the next audience, the next person.
To everyone who supported us, believed in us and rooted for our love, thank you. I know so many people genuinely wanted us to make it, and I’m sorry that this is how our story ended. I wanted a different ending more than anyone.
And most of all, I’m sorry to my daughter. I’m sorry you have to watch your mom heal from yet another relationship she truly believed would last.
I’m sorry Sarper never made the effort to really know you when the cameras weren’t there. That hurts me in a completely different way.
I hope someday when you choose a partner, you choose the exact opposite of what you watched me accept. I hope you never let someone who couldn’t love you properly convince you that you’re difficult to love.
